POTD: The Torch In The Dark
TFB’s Photo Of The Day tries to push the excellent work done by so many photographers around the world and in the firearms industry. It’s a celebration of those who go in harm’s way trying to catch those special moments for us, but also those who stay in the studio working out the perfect lighting and setting hour after hour. Armed with skills, cameras and sometimes a fair bit of post-editing here is where their hard work ends up.
Rundown: Canadian Small Arms & Light Weapons Transferred to Ukraine
After seeing a considerable number of Colt Canada C7 rifles and C8 carbines being used in Ukraine, I decided to investigate their origins reaching out to various Ministries of Defense to enquire if they had provided the rifles. The Canadian Ministry of National Defence not only confirmed that they had provided various small arms but their spokesperson was also kind enough to confirm some of the types of small arms and light weapons which Canada has transferred to Ukraine since February.

Argentinian CAT Pistol Reflex Sights with Magnetic Mounting System
An Argentinian company called CAT Aiming Devices has developed a magnetic mounting system that allows attaching reflex sights to pistols without a need for an optics-ready slide. This may sound like not quite a reliable solution, however, the system does not rely only on the strength of its built-in magnet. Let’s take a closer look.

[SHOT 2022] Radian Releases Ramjet (and Afterburner)
I have to admit to being a bit of a Radian fanboy. The Raptor charging handle is second to none in my opinion, and I have one in each of my ARs at home. It looks like there might be two more Radian products coming to my personal guns, the Ramjet barrel, and Afterburner micro-compensator.

Swedish Security Service Goes Glock
The Swedish Security Service has chosen Glock as a supplier for their duty pistols. This means that the current SIG Sauers will be replaced by various 9mm Glocks. The approved and chosen models are the Glock 17, 19 and the sub-compact 43X, but there are no details as to which generation. The Swedish Police have been testing no less than twelve different pistols, but earlier this year the Swedish Security Service, which is independent of the Police, left the specific evaluation to continue on their own. The result is now official.

Every day we run a new theme, a few selected pictures, and a short story and credit to the person behind the lens. Today we’re looking at some photos from 2013, from when the Norwegian Defense decided to establish a Special Forces unit only consisting of females. At the time, 2000 females were invited to apply to the unit. It was reported then to be the world’s first all-female special forces unit. The unit is called Jegertroppen (translated: Hunter Troop) and you can find their recruiting homepage here.

Glock G17 Gen5 FR Coyote – Civilian Version of French Contract Pistol for European Market
At the beginning of the past year, we reported about the French Army’s adoption of the Glock G17 Gen5 as their new service pistol with an order of about 75,000 handguns placed. Well, Glock suggests its customers “follow the choice of the French Army” by offering a limited edition civilian version of this handgun called G17 Gen5 FR Coyote. This variation of the fifth-generation Glock 17 pistol can be found only on the company’s European website which makes this author think that this pistol is not available in the USA at least by the moment of writing this article. Let’s take a closer look.
