Welcome everyone to the 206th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – Is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

Thanks to Shawn and Brian of 2AGuysandGear. I almost missed this at Big 3 East but Shawn mentioned it and showed me a photo. So on the last day I caught up with Spike’s Tactical. They brought out a new caliber to show us. It is called the .416 Spike. It is basically a .308 version of .300 blk. I had actually pondered this a while back and at the time there wasn’t a larger version of a .300blk. Well now there is.

Gun Review: Spike's Tactical Integrally Suppressed Brown Recluse 9mm AR
Spike’s Brown Recluse is an impressive 9mm pistol caliber carbine. While the majority of the gun is similar to many other 9mm ARs, the integrally suppressed barrel is where it truly shines. Sure companies can chop a barrel and add long barrel extension to make it a rifle length barrel. Then add their baffle stack making it a single stamp gun. However that is only what you see from the outside of the Brown Recluse. The barrel is vented. Why would you vent the barrel? So that the gas from super sonic rounds can be vented away and lower the speed to sub sonic levels. Thus making regular off the shelf ammo much quieter. In fact there is no need to buy sub sonic ammo for the Recluse since it makes ammo sub sonic.

Thanks to my fellow writer Adam Scepaniak for sharing this. Adam runs a gun store during the day and helped his employees to order the parts.
SPIKE'S TACTICAL Brings the Silence in BROWN RECLUSE 9mm Carbine
Spike’s Tactical quietly released a brand new 9mm carbine, the Brown Recluse, on Silencer Shop’s website. Being fresh off the press and with no advertising pushing it, Silencer Shop appears to be the only source for this firearm. At the moment, it is not even listed on Spike’s own website.
