MP.18-I Up for Auction
One of the (many) reasons to follow the WeaponsMan blog is that he keeps an eye out for neat auctions that, even if they cost the same as a new luxury sedan, provide great photos of rare or unique firearms. Most recently, Hognose has linked to an auction for a very rare MP.18-I, the first variant of the famous German MP.18 submachine gun (which, arguably, was the progenitor of the type):
Brgger & Thomet APC 556/300 Coming in 2015
I’ve kept my eyes open for literature regarding the new Brügger & Thomet carbine family, since I managed to miss their booth at the 2015 SHOT Show. Fortunately, Defense Review covered the rifle at the show, which appears to be essentially similar in operation to the AR-180 and G36 (I haven’t seen any pictures of the bolt yet, but I suspect it’s a Johnson-type multilug design):
GSG MP-40 in 9mm?
Stopping into the German Sport Guns (GSG) booth found me eye goggling a very nice piece of WWII history, the MP-40. This was not the version currently offered by GSG in .22LR, and imported to the United States by American Tactical Imports; no, this one was chambered in the original 9x19mm. As a huge WWII history buff, I was immediately interested in the potential of having a semi-auto version of a weapon that infamously made history.
Shockwave Technologies ZMAG for M11/9mm Subguns
Good news for M11/9 owners looking for affordable magazines! Shockwave Technologies has released its ZMAG for the Cobray M11/9 submachine gun. These guns, though affordable (by registered machine gun standards) suffer from problematic and aging Zytel magazines. Shockwave’s Marty Ewer explains:
Knob Creek at the cyclic rate
Kaboom! Bang! Explosions downrange, machine guns going off, helicopters flying overhead, entire belts of tracers stitching their way across the range in the darkness. You’ve all seen it, the famous Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot through Youtube videos or various other online sources. The amount of “ohhhs” and “ahhhs” are uncountable from shooters and teenagers alike from across the nation as we watch with open mouths as the Shoot is displayed across the screen on full size. But what is exactly is Knob Creek? And how does it actually work? Can a person just waltz into where ever it takes place and start shooting machine guns at random? This post will address these topics as well as a quick Q and A with Kenny Sumners, the current owner of the range. Although there has been many photo heavy posts on TFB about the shoot, there hasn’t been a post detailing exactly how the shoot works from a bystander’s perspective.
Texas PD Training: KRISS Vector Vs. H&K UMP (Part 1)
First and foremost I would like to thank everyone involved in helping get this series of articles together. Without Phil (our T&E Manager and Senior Writer) helping bridge the connections between KRISS USA and myself, without the good people at the DeSoto Police Department (especially officer Tyndall), and of course with the support of our readers this would not have been possible. I know it took at least three or four months of planning, several date changes, and 250 emails on my end alone to get this together, but in the end it was one of the neatest events I have ever been a part of.
Australian Authorities Confiscate Rare Submachine Guns
The Australian police recently raided a property and discovered a large cache of over 300 weapons. They discovered everything from Enfields to AK-47s. Among these guns were two rare Australian submachine guns.
MP5-SD Video
The MP5SD is the integrally suppressed version of the famous MP5 submachine gun. This video, taken by the THOR Group, shows just how silent the gun is.
Police find homemade submachine gun
About two weeks ago the police in Winnipeg, Canada, confiscated a a bunch of saw off shotguns, ammo and a unidentified submachine gun that is reported to be homemade.
M3 Grease Gun possibly still in service
Murdoc uncovered a story which mentions that the US Army still has the WWII era M3 “grease gun” submachine gun in service for select units such as vehicle crews, engineers and radio operators.
Type 79 submachine gun
I just really like the design. Simple and functional. It looks like it should fire something more powerful than the 7.62x25mm Tokarev.
MP5SD Photo
I came across a cool photo of an MP5SD with mini-uzi type stock.
Engraved MP5
This photo has been floating around the internet for quite a long time. I recently saw in on BoingBoing.
