Budget firearms manufacturer Hi-Point is one of the biggest punching bags in the industry. Drive-by shooting? Must have been a Hi-Point. Pistol left behind at the scene of a crime? Must have been a Hi-Point. However, time and time again they have demonstrated that affordable guns can be reliable and that good customer service can solve most issues. Not that I am saying that the FBI should include Hi-Point in their next round of contract gun testing. But the future 1095TS 10mm carbine should draw a fair bit of interest.

Many readers have remarked that they would buy an affordable 10mm carbine is the opportunity presented itself. Well, time to put your money where your mouth is – for about $350 you will be able to own a pistol caliber carbine in the only monster-dropping caliber that matters.

I'm a big fan of the .44 magnum and .45 Colt, no big shock that I prefer a revolver and a lever gun in those calibers for situations where big short tempered critters may want to end my life or at the very least, give me a permanent limp but I see the appeal of 10mm.

It's got decent power, not anywhere near .44 mag or .45 Colt power or even bullet size but when packaged in a semiauto pistol or especially in a pistol caliber carbine it's definitely a problem solver in many situations. I've considered a 10mm upper for my G21 as a "lightweight" lol backup to my larger caliber revolvers and I really like the looks of the TNW 10mm Aero Survival rifle.

The 10mm sort of took a death dive in the beginning and it's surged and fallen behind a few times since then but there's no arguing that it's finally found it's footing and is rapidly gaining favor with a lot of shooters, at least here in the US. Much like the 10mm the Hi-Point has taken a ballistic beating over the years but as the multitude of recently performed reviews have proven, it's pretty darn reliable. True it's as ugly as a possum's grin but it's also affordable enough to justify buying one and just squinting real hard when you're forced to look at it up close. Makes for one heck of a truck or boat gun and most folks aren't going to need therapy afterwards if it's dropped overboard or stolen like you might if your tricked out AR or grandpappy's Winchester 94 suffered the same fate.

I doubt I'll buy one but only because I'm poor and I've got way too many guns ahead of it on my "wish list" but I think Hi-Point made a pretty wise decision in releasing these and I wouldn't laugh at anyone for showing up at the range with one. To be honest, I'd probably ask if I could try it out.
