POTD: Jatimatic SMG with Laser Sight

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a Finnish Jatimatic submachine gun fitted with a Laser Products laser sight. Jatimatic is a very unique and rare firearm designed and produced in the ’80s. It is a blowback 9mm SMG with an angled barrel and bolt travel path to help control the gun, and a folding front grip that doubles as a charging handle and safety. This particular Jatimatic SMG is a pre-86 dealer sample and will be auctioned at Poulin Spring 2024 Premier Firearms & Militaria Auction (June 7-10). The auction house notes that chances are high this very Jatimatic SMG was used by Sylvester Stallone in the “Cobra” movie (1986).

Wheelgun Wednesday: The Anaconda is HERE! So, What's Next?

Last week on Wheelgun Wednesday, we got some of Rusty’s insights, range time, and critiques of the new Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum. With this seemingly tremendous success of the Anaconda: it almost begs the question: where do they go from here?

Strike Industries COBRA Vertical Foregrip/Monopod

This new Strike Industries product, Cobra vertical foregrip/monopod, may look familiar to you. That’s because it is based on the Strike Industries MFS Monopod design. The difference is that if the MFS Monopod was an SI Modular Fixed Stock specific product due to the clamping portion designed for the MFS stock bottom loop, the Cobra has a Picatinny rail clamp which makes it a much more versatile accessory allowing to attach it to a variety of stocks with a bottom 1913 rail. Also, its dimensions and shape will allow you to use it as a vertical foregrip when it is attached to the handguard making it a dual-purpose accessory.

Breaking News: NEW Colt Bright Cobra .38 SPL+P comes to Light

Colt made a lot of jaws drop when they announced the re-introduction of double-action revolvers back in January 2017. That initial offering of a Cobra was a bit of a departure from the double-action revolvers they used to produce with its matte finish and rubber grip. The 2nd iteration of the Colt Cobra came this last January with the unveiling of the Night Cobra. This specialized revolver with more concealed carry motivated traits was an even more modern take on the classic name. Now we are seeing the 3rd installment in this series of revolvers with the Bright Cobra.

Mexican subguns: a quick look

Some days ago, while taking a look at some boxes of “unconventionally-filed” (messed, really) material in search of something, I came across a small brochure surviving from items collected at the 2013 LAAD Defence and Security Show in Rio de Janeiro describing a family of Mexican-made submachine guns being promoted by a company called X-Arms. Since the subject appears to be little known by the general public and a search in TFB-covered subjects was fruitless, I decided to give it some light.

[SHOT 2018] NEW Colt Night Cobra .38 Special Self-Defense Revolver

Colt has a very storied history of producing phenomenal single-action and double-action revolvers. To the dismay of many, over the years they slowly dwindled down that inventory to only the SIngle-Action Army leaving consumers reminiscing of the good ol’ days and wanting more. Well, Colt responded to those sentiments by bringing back the Cobra .38 Special. Now this year at SHOT Show 2018 they have announced a newer iteration of that revolver called the Night Cobra.

We’ve all heard that one before, right? “There’s no point to the .357 Magnum in a snubnosed revolver, from a barrel that short you might as well carry a .38.” Well, thanks some some exhaustive testing by Chris Baker and the LuckyGunner Labs team, turns out that’s not really true.

The New Colt Cobra, Shooting and First Impressions | SHOT 17

Colt’s Manufacturing was on the firing line at the SHOT Show 2017 Industry Day at the Range, showing off their new handguns and rifles. Center stage was Colt’s re-entry to the double action wheelgun market, the reinvented Cobra. Unlike the previous Cobra, the new gun is all-steel, doing away with its nominal predecessor’s aluminum frame. This makes it closer to the old stainless fourth series Detective Special than the older Cobras, and therefore puts it in the same bracket as the S&W 640, Ruger SP101, and the new Kimber K6s.
