Introduced at SHOT Show 2023, the Reap Weaponries Scy bullpup conversion kit for AR-15 pattern rifles is now available. The Scy is a drop-in kit that is attached to the lower receiver and handguard of the rifle providing a front pistol grip mount and linking the trigger forward. Let’s take a closer look.

JP Rifles introduced their ASF-20 Ambidextrous AR-15 Billet Lower Receiver in 2020, and it somehow slipped past the lidless eye of TFB. Ambidextrous, or ambi AR-15 lower receivers have been cropping up in recent years, which give shooters more flexibility in manipulating their rifle controls without having to shift the rifle to one side or another, or awkwardly reposition one’s hand regardless of which shoulder the rifle is up against. The primary benefits of ambi controls on an AR-15 would be for users that need to maneuver tight spaces, and thus change which shoulder they fire from, or to have a shared defensive rifle being used by left and right handed people. Sharps Bros has released a new AR-15 lower receiver dubbed Showdown. The new Sharps Bros Showdown lower receiver has a samurai mask/facial armor themed magazine well. It joins the Jack, Warthog, Overthrow and Hellbreaker in the company’s line of lower receivers with special magwell designs.

Yes you read that right. Defense distributed has taken their Ghost Gunner desktop CNC to the next level. They are now offering jigs and code to mill a zero percent receiver (raw billet blank aka brick of aluminum) into a lower receiver. Life finds a way to be ungovernable.

Unlike the standard AR-15 lower receivers which are primarily made of forgings, the majority of custom receivers are machined from solid blocks of aluminum. This was the case with the Sharps Bros Livewire lower receiver too, however, the company has announced that from now on they will be making these receivers from custom 7075 aluminum forgings made by  Anchor Harvey. Let’s take a look at Sharps Bros forged Livewire lower receiver’s features and see what are the benefits of this transition for the end user.

SilencerCo has been a staple in the suppressor manufacturing world for nearly a decade and a half. Since 2008, they’ve produced many silencer models that have sold well, but that’s not all they do. They’ve also previously released some products other than cans, including a bolt carrier group and an AR-15 lower receiver. Since its introduction in 2020, the SCO15 billet stripped lower hasn’t been the easiest product to purchase, as it was initially issued as a limited release. They only recently became more widely available, as TFB reported in June. If you want one and are also in the market for any of the Utah-based shop’s cans, now may be the perfect time for you to buy.

Following the release of the upper receivers used in their R-10 rifles, ROAM has announced that the magnesium alloy lower receivers of these rifles are now also available separately. The ROAM R-10 rifles based on these magnesium alloy receivers are extremely lightweight with the lightest one, R-10 Red River Ultralight, weighing in at 5.48 lbs oz (.308 Win, 16″ pencil barrel, titanium BCG).

In the new products section of the  SHOT Show On Demand, the virtual version of the world’s largest arms exhibition, I came across this rather interesting AR-15 lower receiver made by the  U.S. Arms Company (USAC). What makes the USAC M-4 CLS UTAW lower receiver unique is the built-in mechanism that allows applying tension and tightening the upper and lower receivers against each other.

Lingle Industries is a new company that has just released their first product –  CZ Bren 2 lower receiver called BREAK (stands for BREn AK). What sets the Lingle Industries BREAK lower receiver apart from the factory one is that it takes standard 7.62x39mm AK magazines with rock & lock insertion as opposed to the proprietary straight insert mags used in 7.62×39 Bren 2, and it’s also compatible with AR-15 trigger mechanisms (including the safety selector) and pistol grips.

In the past couple weeks SilencerCo has been teasing that they had a new product coming down the pipeline. Logic would make us assume that it is another silencer, but SilencerCo very recently also dropped a NEW Enhanced BCG (Bolt-Carrier Group) so you never truly know. They also had left us with some fun word-play to see if we could read between the lines:

Well, that title is a little gibberish-y, but I promise it’s completely accurate. At SHOT 2020 today Safety Harbor is showing off its newest product, an AR lower designed specifically to work with both the Grand Power Stribog upper and Glock magazines at the same time. It is almost, but not quite, an AR-9 lower that’s been modified for the Stribog. As I’m sure you are all aware, the first question anyone asks about any new gun that takes a pistol caliber cartridge is whether or not it takes Glock magazines. Well, now the Stribog does indeed take Glock magazines. As long as you’re willing to buy the Safety Harbor lower for it.

Earlier this year, Cobalt Kinetics introduced the Model 27 rifle which has an angled pistol grip that extends rearward and becomes the stock of the rifle. This weapon is 50 state legal. Recently, the company has announced the launch of what they call Forged Upper Conversion Kit which is basically a modified Model 27 lower receiver made compatible with standard AR-15 upper receivers.
