Welcome back to this week’s Friday Night Lights. Last week we took a look at the Tracer Tactical Head Harness. Well, this week we revisit our friends at Gibbous Outfitters and see what they have come up with now. Gibbous Outfitters upgrade the MP5K, the infamous MP5 briefcase, along with some unexpected upgrades for other weapon systems.

If you have been following along in the various MP5 groups on social media, Marcus of Gibbous Outfitters is developing accessories for the MP5. Marcus sent his Gibbous Outfitters MP5K furniture for me to test on my HK SP5K PDW SBR which I now dub the MP5K-SD (Super Deformed).

The Pakistani company POF makes some of the most affordable license-built MP5 clones. The POF SMG is a faithful reproduction of the HK MP5, but the SMG PK is… not. It’s more like MP5 fan fiction. In this episode of TFBTV, Hop takes a look at the POF SMG PK and talks about the MP5 “Reverse Stretch” pattern; a type of homebrew MP5 that combines elements of the full size and the MP5K.

No Christmas season would be complete for me without a yearly rewatch of quite a few movies. The most important of which is of course Die Hard. Die Hard is probably the single biggest cause of millennial’s desire to own an MP5 submachine gun. However, technology has come a long way since the 1980s and some believe that the design could have been improved upon. Haga Defense is one of those companies and they are soon to release an MP5 Flared Magwell adapter that is compatible with both the MP5 and the MP5K submachine guns.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves reveals the H&K SP5K-PDW. The SP5K-PDW is, essentially, a civilian version of the H&K MP5K-PDW, which is, itself, an improved version of the H&K MP5K, which in turn is a shortened version of the H&K MP5.  In other words, the SP5K-PDW is a shortened civilian version of the MP5, but, unlike the H&K SP5K or the MP5K, the PDW comes with all of the features we wanted from H&K, including a combo threaded/tri-lug barrel, paddle mag release, ability to easily add a stock or brace – and it’s made in Germany, from the same assembly line as H&K’s military and law enforcement contract guns. Is this possibly the best version of the MP5 to date? Or the best H&K carbine to ever hit the civilian market? James breaks it down today on TFBTV.

With the roller delayed blowback renaissance, accessories for the MP5 platform have exploded on the market. With the improved quality of rapid prototyping, now individuals can print out functional parts and sell them. Custom Smith MFG (CSM) makes 3D printed MP5 upgrade parts for the king of pistol caliber carbines. We got their MP5K AFG and binary selector levers.

Once upon a time, there was this Vertical Foregrip for the Heckler & Koch MP5K.

So you think you’re a collector of firearms?

Ok so it is not really a tale. Just sharing some photos of my MP5 Briefcase next to another MP5 Briefcase. My friend Alex B and I have H&K Briefcases. Well almost like mine. Let’s take a closer look because they are not the same.

Last year Altra Firearms came across a collection of H&K MP5 parts. One of which was a genuine H&K MP5K briefcase. Now Rusty S. posted up a lightning review of his MP5K briefcase about two years ago. I had always wanted an MP5K Briefcase and there was one for sale very close to me. My friend Scott had posted it up on various groups so I contacted him and I bought it from Altra. The briefcase cost me $2,000. I have heard people say they are $1500 but I have not see them go for that cheap. I knew of one other person near me who had one and he spent $4,000 for his briefcase. Sadly he sold it before I acquired mine.

I know that this defeats the purpose of being discreet and it is not subtle at all. But that isn’t the point. As far as I can tell I have not found another example of someone suppressing an MP5K H&K Briefcase.

InfidelAA posted a video showing a way to conceal carry an H&K SP5K. Can you imagine a mugger coming across this? Not your everyday carry CCW.
