Lapua of Finland is introducing two new cartridge casings in 2024, namely the 300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) and 6mm GT. According to Lapua, the 300 WSM provides many advantages among magnum cartridges, delivering energy equal to the 300 Win Mag. It’s conveniently integrated into a short-action rifle design.

While browsing the Russian firearms/defense news, I came across an article published on the website of Russian newspaper Izvestiya telling about a new bolt action rifle called Phantom H. This rifle is made by a Russian company called Bespoke Gun which as its name implies is specialized in making custom bespoke rifles. It is apparently a new company co-founded by another Russian small arms manufacturer called Moscow Arms Company (Московская оружейная компания).

Kimber has taken their feathery-light Mountain Ascent rifle and introduced a NEW Subalpine iteration. New for 2019, the Mountain Ascent Subalpine shares many of the original features and is being rolled out in 5 popular, western hunting cartridges. It actually is a blend of two rifles from Kimber, their Subalpine and Mountain Ascent individually, bringing the best qualities of each into a new package for hunters and shooting enthusiasts.

While being in Moscow and attending Arms & Hunting 2017 and Interpolitex 2017 exhibitions, TFB was invited by the Sureshot Armament Group to visit their factory and try some of their products in the range. Federal introduced in mid-2016 a hybrid series of their staple Power-Shok featuring all copper bullets aptly named  Power-Shok Copper. Its initial release debuted 4 standard hunting cartridges: .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. Now Federal has added some heavy hitters with the .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 Winchester Short Magnum.

Hornady, like many companies, had a lot up their sleeves at the recent NRA meetings. They basically expanded in three bread ‘n butter categories: reloading dies, reloading bullets and ammunition. The 5 new products they introduced help to round out these categories and satisfy shooters with more unique caliber desires.

Stiletto Systems, a joint Ukranian and British venture, has publicly debuted the new sniper rifle for the Ukranian Armed Forces and national Guard. The new rifle is chambered in .300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM), giving the rifle an effective range past 1,000 meters.
