Let’s talk about the new B&T APC9 Pro. If you aren’t familiar with this pistol caliber carbine, then I have to go ahead and question your knowledge and support of firearms and the second amendment all together. Joking aside, these are some of the best sub-machine guns available. Not to worry, they make semi-auto versions as well. The new Pro series from B&T has some interesting new features that I think you will appreciate.

Interesting Products at SHOT Show 2019 From Smaller Companies

Now that most of the SHOT Show hype has subsided, I wanted to post about a few products at the show that I found interesting. Most, if not all, the products below were found in the “basement” halls. Those are the halls on the lower floor where smaller and up-and-coming companies have their booths. You can really find some gems down there, as well as lots of stuff that’s pretty meh. The main hall at the show is where all the big boys are found, Glock, Sig Sauer, HK, Smith & Wesson etc. That’s where most of the popular products that get all the YouTube and blog hits are, but I like to explore and see what else the SHOT Show has to offer.

[SHOT 2019] CZ-USA's Bren Pistol Modifications, Bullpup Drop-In Chassis, and .22 LR Rifle

There were several new news items to keep track of while at the CZ-USA booth this year during SHOT 2019. First off the bat were some modifications to the new Bren pistol. The Bren 2MS now has a modular forend where owners can swap out forends to change the length of the handguards. This includes the ability to go over a mounted suppressor. Although certainly not covert in any sort of way, Surgeon Rifles quietly goes about their work of custom precision rifle work without too much fanfare in the public sphere. We take a look at one of their projects in this video, the owner’s personal rifle as an example of what can be accomplished at the company.

[SHOT 2019] Duplessis Rifle Company (custom action & switch barrel)

I, like many others I suspect, am always on the lookout for that one rifle that can do it all.  Of course, this is just a fantasy.  First, we are limited by weight.  A good mountain hunting rifle would be light and easy to pack, while a good competition rifle would have enough heft to smooth out some of the shooters wobble and soak up a bit of the recoil.  Second, we are limited by cartridge.  Anything ideal for killing big game would be overkill for shooting varmints or plinking steel.  That being said, Duplessis Rifle Co. has created a modular rifle system that might just bring that fantasy a little closer to reality.

[SHOT 2019] New WK180-C rifle and sporting VZ58 from Kodiak Defence

AR-18 is probably one of the most underappreciated firearms designs in history. The rifle itself was not very popular, but the basic design of its bolt and bolt carrier was used by at least 9 different countries: Germany in the G36, Belgium in the SCAR, the Czech Republic in Bren 805 and 807, the US in Bushmaster ACR, UK in L85, Israel in Tavor, South Korea in K1A1, Singapore in SAR-80 and Japan in their Type 89. Now, another country and another company joined that list – Canada with WK180-C designed by Kodiak Defence.
