The H&K MR762A1 LRP (Long Range Package) is the civilian version of the H&K G28 rifle, Germany’s new Designated Marksmen Rifle.

At SHOT Show next week US Optics will debut their new “true 1x” scope. They guarantee that it has no magnification at the 1x setting, so it functions like a red dot sight, but can be cranked right up to 8x for long range engagement.

The official SHOT Show / Gun Broker Rifle auction this year is for a beautiful Winchester Model 70 chambered in .270 Win.

The official SHOT Show GunBroker Pistol Auction this year is for a S&W 1913, their first automatic pistol, and an engraved S&W Model 1911. They commemorate 100 years of S&W making automatic pistols.

In 2010 the BATFE arrested 21 people, including Smith & Wesson executives for beaching the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, a law which prohibits US corporations, citizens and residents from bribing foreign officials. Those arrested were charged with conspiring to bribe officials in the African state of Gabon as part of a deal to sell $15 million of equipment to the 1,800 man strong Gabon Presidential (Republican) Guard.

One of the niftiest guns I have seen at SHOT is the Excel Arms X-30R Rifle. It is chambered in .30 Carbine and accepts M1 Carbine magazines. A number of models will be available later this year, including a pistol version. The gun is blowback operated and has a heavy recoil string to slow down the bolt.

The Desert Tactical Arms SRS Covert Rifle was definitely one of the niftiest guns at SHOT Show. With a short 16″ barrel, chambered in 308 Win, .300 Win or .338 Lapua Magnum, this gun has an overall length of just 26″. It is tiny but powerful package.

Tim Ellwood dug up some photos of SHOT Show back in 1987. SHOT is a LOT bigger now.

At SHOT Show, Remington introduced a new version of their 1911 R1 handgun. Cosmetically is looks more modern than the more traditional looking original 1911 R1. I really liked the look when I saw it at the show.

I had the opportunity to handle the Polish manufactured Radom PM-06 sub machine gun at SHOT Show. This 9mm Parabellum chambered sub machine gun has a blow back action and fires at 640 rpm out of a 7.2″ barrel. It weighs 5.5 lbs. Not having fired it, my only criticism is that they only make a 15 round and 25 round magazine. 25 rounds seems a little small in 2011.
