The Mossberg Chainsaw may look gimmicky, and shooting from the hip is not a good way to utilize your pump-action, but it works surprisingly well.

The ADCOR Defense BEAR (Brown Enhanced Automatic Rifle) is a very nifty new piston-operated AR-15 carbine. The piston is permanently attached to the bolt carrier (think AK-47) and it travels through a machined boss in the upper receiver, which prevents the problem of carrier tilt. The BEAR includes both the standard AR-15 rear charging handle and a forward, folding and non-reciprocating charging handle.

S&W has introduced a .410 chambered revolver with a light scandium frame called “The Governor” (urrgghhh … a governor is more important than a judge, right?) . The Taurus Judge has been selling so well I am surprised it took so long for another company to copy the concept.

The day many thought would never arrive has finally materialized out of thin air! This week H&K finally started shipping the civilian version of the HK416 rifle. I shot it today for the first time and was impressed. It works as advertised. Easy to control and jumps right back on target. The retail price is slightly under $3000.

The Ruger GunSite Scount rifle was very nice to shoot. I love the Scout Concept and this is a Scout done well and relatively cheaply. If you decide you don’t like the scout-scope, standard Ruger rings attached to the normal palce.

Today Media Day, media shooting day held a day before the actual show, car dove in front of the live firing line. WTF? I was shooting a 9mm carbine at the time. Other guns shooting at part of the range included .338 Lapua’s, and 7.62mm NATO machine guns!!!!!! EPIC FAIL. I could barley believe my eyes.

The Remington’s XCR II is a new long action Model 700 rifle. It does not supersede the original XCR, which was introduced in 2005, but will be offered alongside it.

This pump action shotgun is a BEAST. I was scared just looking at it! Its large magnum receiver is made even larger with the so called Armorlokt plastic coating which covers the entire gun.

The new Model 870 Tactical Express with the A-TACS camo finish is a nice looking shotgun. It features a 18 1/2″ barrel, tactical choke, extended magazine (bringing capacity up to 7+1) and picatinny rail.

Remington has introduced three new Model 597 VTR rifles.

The outdoor sporting counterpart to the Savage / Stevens 350 Pump Security is the 350 Pump Field.

New from Savage, under the Stevens brand name, is the Stevens 350 budget home defense pump action shotgun.

The Model 12FCV is the latest edition to the Savage Varmit line. It features the AccuStock with beavertail foreend, AccuTrigger, detachable box magazine and a heavy fluted barrel.
