HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Grim Reaper or Looks Cheaper?
Welcome everyone to the 182nd edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
MasterPiece Arms Adds The NEW 9mm DS9 Commander
The 1911/2011market continues to expand as shooters come to appreciate the blending of high capacity and the 1911’s legendary shootability. Previously unleashing the MPA DS40 Travis Tomasie Competition Pistol, MasterPiece Arms is expanding upon its DS line of high-end, machined in the U.S.A. pistols. The newest release is the MasterPiece Arms MPA DS9 Commander, a 4.24″ barreled, double-stack 1911 pistol.
MasterPiece Arms Releases MPA DS40 Travis Tomasie Competition Pistol
Double stack 1911-style pistols are huge in competitive shooting. They combine the benefits of large magazines with the sweet, glass rod break of a 1911 trigger. Also, to scoot just into Major Power Factor, many shooters opt for the .40 S&W cartridge. Travis Tomasie, a pro shooter with MasterPiece Arms, helped to design a pistol with all of these features. Aimed directly at those looking for a competition gun out of the box, this is the new MPA DS40 TT Comp Pistol.
New MPA BA PMR Pro Rifle II – The Production Class Killer
With the introduction of new price thresholds for the Precision Rifle Series (PRS) specifically in regards to the Production Class, shooters have been struggling to get every advantage they can out of their rigs without crossing the $2,500 limit. MPA just introduced the Production Class-minded MPA BA PMR Pro Rifle II which will retail for $2,499.99 and will still include a ton of features that give shooters many advantages during competition.

The New Masterpiece Arms MPA Brass Catcher
We all know the frustration of trying to chase down your spent brass. Whether it’s a day at the range or shooting on private property we as shooters don’t want to pollute our surroundings with spent casings. Being a “brass goblin” myself, I have always tried my best to save every single piece of brass that I can for reloading. However, I still have yet to find a reliable brass catcher on the market. The new MPA Brass Catcher seeks to solve that problem.
[SHOT 2020] MasterPiece Arms Matrix Chassis & Curtis 22LR Conversion
MasterPiece Arms showcased their new Matrix Chassis system. It is intended to be their most customizable and ergonomic chassis yet. Focusing on one of the shooter’s most critical inputs into the rifle, the trigger press, MPA has labored to produce a product that will make the shooter’s grip and therefore trigger press more repeatable. They have achieved this by allowing the shooter to customize their grip interface in three different locations, the reach to the trigger in the grip/grip angle, thumb placement with a variety of shelves and trigger finger placement with the trigger finger support inserts. I haven’t done the math for myself but apparently, 5 grip options 3 thumb rest options and 4 trigger support options lead to over 100 different options.

Georgia-based MasterPiece Arms (MPA) has introduced a new compact bolt action rifle, designed to be stored with a minimal footprint. The MUT or Micro Urban Tactical rifle has a number of features designed to reduce its overall length.
MasterPiece Arms Rolls Out The New BA Compact Suppressor Ready (CSR) Rifle
Call me a bit jaded, but after spending the last several years making a living both writing about firearms and working in the industry, sometimes it can be hard to get excited about something. That is not the case at all with the new MasterPiece Arms BA Compact Suppressor Ready Rifle. Naming the rifle BA is one of the most appropriate monikers that could have been assigned to the ultra cool bolt gun.
MasterPiece Arms Wedge Lock a.k.a "Cow Gate System"
Review: Masterpiece Arms' MPA BA "Lite" PCR in 6.5CM: Low-Cost Precision at 1600 yards!
That’s how I would describe hitting targets at 1000 yards with the MPA BA Lite PCR Competition Rifle, MasterPiece Arms’ new rifle for use in the production class of the Precision Rifle Series. I dialed in the trued data and pressed the trigger. Thanks to the low recoil of 6.5 Creedmoor, the scope stayed on target and 1.39 seconds later I witnessed a first round hit.. It’s not often I am impressed by a firearm, but the BA Lite PCR certainly accomplished that.

MPA Introduces "Retro" MPA M11 Pistol
Lovers of the MAC handgun system rejoice! MasterPiece Arms has announced the release of the MPA M11-9SA, a “throwback to more of a traditional MAC design.” The model number stems from the handgun itself. M11 refers to the frame, 9 for the 9mm caliber, and SA for semi-auto only (sorry, NFA lovers).
