End Of An Era: No More GLOCK Gen4 Guns; .40S&W Will Go Gen5
It appears that what many of us were predicting finally happened yesterday: GLOCK Gen4 guns are no longer being produced in favor of the Gen5 GLOCK pistols. Residents of California and other more restrictive states have nothing to fear: the Gen3 GLOCKs will continue to be manufactured to support those customers. In addition, the GLOCK Gen4 models chambered in .40S&W will begin a transition to Gen5 production later this year. A brief statement from GLOCK as well as the Gen5 differentiations can be found below.
Strike Industries' "Slide Adapter Plate" For Gen 3 & 4 Glock Parts Swap
Strike Industries recently added another firearm accessory to its wide list of products, with this latest giving Glock owners, or Glock aftermarket support owners the ability to better swap slides and frames between different generations. Strike Industries’ goal with the Slide Adapter Plate was to allow a better fit between a Gen 3 slide on a Gen 4 frame. They said that the Slide Adapter Plate will eliminate the gap between the Gen 4 Glock’s dust cover and the recoil spring guide rod tab of the Gen 3 slides. While that first goal is purely cosmetic, Strike Industries also states that it should reduce the added flex of conjoined generation parts during firing. Let’s look at the Slide Adapter Plate’s product description and specs:
TFB REVIEW: The New GLOCK G34 Gen5 MOS
Glock has begun to slowly expand their line-up of Gen5 models that are being transitioned in from the Gen4 series. Right now, they have the G17 and G19 as well as the just announced G26 Gen5 and the G34 Gen5 Modular Optic System (MOS) pistols. An argument could be made for 5 total with the G19X, but that is a unique crossover that shares attributes from both the Gen5 and Gen4 series.
Modular Magazine Release (MMR) for Glock Gen3 Pistols by Agency Arms and Sage Dynamics
As the title of this article suggests, this product is a result of the collaboration of Agency Arms and Sage Dynamics. It is called Modular Magazine Release (MMR) which is a pretty much self-explanatory name. The MMR consists of the main magazine release core and interchangeable buttons of different shapes and extension degrees over the frame.
Gun Review: Glock 19 Gen4
The Glock 17 and 19 has been the gold standard for combat handguns since shortly after its introduction to the US market in 1988. Some of you 1911 guys out there are going to dispute that, but the widespread adoption and high sales numbers of the compact 9mm tells a very clear story, the Glock 19 is one of the most popular pistols in the world.
Glock G27 Gen4
Last December I reported that Glock was shipping the subcompact G26 with a Gen4 RTF frame. This year they will also be shipping the G27 (subcompact .40 S&W) with a Gen4 frame.
