Binoculars can seem like either an outdated or humdrum shooting or adventuring accessory to many but progress is still being made with each new variant that comes to the market. Vortex has just announced the introduction of their latest binocular offering – the Razor UHD 10×50 low light capable binoculars. The large 50mm objective lenses are what help this pair of binoculars give the user great image clarity and superb light transmission even in lower light conditions.

In any discussion of today’s top brands in the optics game, Vortex Optics almost invariably gets a mention. Their glass is tremendously popular with competitive shooters, hunters, and the tactical community alike. Vortex’s high-end product line, in particular, the Razor series models, commonly find themselves on best-of lists. It appears that Vortex is seeking to continue that pursuit with a new LPVO: the Razor HD Gen III 1-10×24. With a hype video just posted to Vortex’s YouTube channel and Instagram, plus this official product page, recent leaks have been confirmed and the Gen III is real.

The day many tactical optic enthusiasts have been whispering about over the past year is finally here: Nightforce has just announced their long-rumored 1-8 power tactical scope, called the NX8. Nighforce describes the NX8 1-8×24 F1 as “a class leading, compact and lightweight riflescope optimized for short to mid-range shooting“. The company also released a full spec sheet, replicated below:

The United States Special Operations Command (US SOCOM) is looking for a new variable-power rifle optic to allow users to engage targets out to 600 meters, while still preserving close-in capability. The solicitation, released last week on Fed Biz Opps, announces a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) supply contract for up to $33.2 million dollars worth of the new optics. The draft requires offerors to provide 12 sample optics before December 8th of this year. The solicitation follows a pre-solicitation notice issued in July.

Occam Power Solutions, as the name implies, is a typical small company. Offering battery management systems, they have been expanding into the defense market with two products – one fitting their MO (a remote ballistic fuse detonator) and the other product being nearly the complete opposite, in fact lacking any power at all: the Rear Sight Tower for the AK-47

Rugged Suppressors has just announced a limited edition package containing three of their best performing silencers. Known as the ‘Join, Or Die’ kit, the Obsidian 45, Surge 7.62 and Razor 7.62 all come custom finished in Cerakote with detailed laser engraving depicting the original colonies in the form of a segmented snake. The kit itself is being sold exclusively through Silencer Shop and is a limited run of 25 units.

Vortex Razor AMG UH-1

I’m a big fan of Vortex Optics – they manufacture several levels of high quality glass and provide awesome customer service (not that I’ve ever needed it). At the top is their Razor line that gives users HD glass inside an nearly indestructible package. So seeing a holographic sight from Vortex immediately grabbed my attention. The Razor AMG UH-1 is a new product announcement that will be debuting at the SHOT Show in mid-January.

Rugged Suppressors has announced the release of their Razor 762 modular suppressor. The Razor 762 is the shorter version of the Surge 762, which Rugged claims was the “first” modular suppressor.
