Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all bout the rimfire firearm world and all of its different guns, ammunition types, shooting sports, and history. SIG Sauer has recently released a new iteration of their successful P322 pistol – the P322-COMP. I want to start off this week by making it 100% clear that I am completely biased in favor of the P322 pistol already as I personally feel like it has been the single greatest semi-auto 22LR pistol to be released in the last decade. The P322 is an excellent cheap, optics-ready, suppressor-ready package that costs less than $500 – who doesn’t like a good cheap gun? Even with all of that being said, something new like the P322-COMP needs to show us it’s worth the extra dough that SIG is asking for – about $200 or more according to online pricing. I was recently able to take both my original SIG Sauer P322 and the new P322-COMP out to the range to shoot them both side by side to see if the extra features and components are worth the money.

James Reeves is at the Nighthawk Custom Booth at TriggrCon 2023 checking out their latest addition to the Boardroom series of handguns – the BDS9. The Nighthawk Custom BDS9 (Boardroom Double Stack 9mm) is a high-performance pistol designed for competitive shooters. It features a tri-cut angle top slide with lightening ports for faster cycling and comes with an Interchangeable Optics System (IOS) for iron sights or a red dot optic, a tough anodized black billet aluminum grip, and of course, the love and care that goes into every Nighthawk Custom pistol.

Our Photo Of The Day article series brings together some of the most eye-catching and visually appealing images. You won’t find a lot of pictures of sunsets, flowers or touristic landmarks here, instead we focus on masterpieces like this DS9 Open Competition Pistol. It was designed with a lot of influence from well-known competition shooters like David Lyell and Travis Tomasie.

When someone mentions Masterpiece Arms a lot of people will instantly think of their MAC-11 clone pistols and carbines. MPA also sells precision rifle chassis systems as well as competition 2011-style pistols in their DS9 series. Up until recently the color pallet of said pistol offerings has left something to be desired, but now MPA has released new DS9 pistol color options.

CZ-USA has just announced another new version of their P-10 pistol, the CZ P-10 F Competition. Earlier today, CZ-USA released a concealed carry version of the P-10 pistol as well. The CZ P-10 F Competition model was designed with, of course, competitors in mind, and features a longer slide, and thus a longer sight radius, and comes optics ready. The P-10 F Competition also features a titanium nitride coated five-inch barrel that has a slightly wider chamber to accommodate a wide variety of ammunition. CZ-USA’s description can be seen below.

CZ-USA continue their focus on the competitive shooting market with a new competition pistol, the Tactical Sport 2 (TS2). The new pistol was announced in Europe in November and is now available in the US. Designed with IPSC, USPSA, 3-Gun and Steel Challenge shooters in mind, the TS2 has a steel frame, aluminium grip panels and a 20-round magazine.

Ruger have announced the introduction of a 9x19mm competition pistol to their popular Ruger American line. The new pro model has a 5in competition barrel with 6 grooves and a 1:16″ slow twist for enhanced accuracy with lighter-weight match bullets. With a lengthened slide and longer sight radius, the new competition pistol has fully adjustable rear target sights and a fiber optic front sight for rapid target acquisition.

Kalashnikov Concern has released the competition version of the PL-14/PL-15 Lebedev pistol. The new pistol is called SP1. It has some new features added to make it attractive for the competition shooters. The company markets it for use in Production or Production Optics divisions. Let’s take a closer look.

Just announced is the Beretta 92X Performance – a steel-framed pistol with upgrades that are geared towards the competition shooter. Besides the new Vertec steel frame, the Beretta 92X features an oversized, ambidextrous, frame-mounted safety versus the traditional slide safety or decocker on previous 92 pistols. The new gun also features a Brigadier slide and an Extreme-S trigger which reduces reset by 40%. Other upgrades include a “match” takedown lever (which appears to function as a gas pedal), a skeletonized hammer and more pronounced beavertail backstrap.

Remington have introduced a new competition pistol. Developed in collaboration with their team captain Travis Tomasie, the new pistol is a 1911 chambered in .40S&W. Tomasie, the captain of Remington’s shooing team, is a former member of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and a gold medalist in both the IPSC Handgun World Shoot and the IPSC US Handgun Championship.

Following up their recent release of their first defensive pistol, the Titan Operator 1911, Atlas Gunworks have unveiled what they claim is “the ultimate competition pistol”, the Nemesis. The Nemesis is what Atlas describe as a “full custom 2011 in fit and finish” combining features from the 1911 with a double stack magazine, a lightened slide and custom parts.
