Ruger have announced the introduction of a 9x19mm competition pistol to their popular Ruger American line. The new pro model has a 5in competition barrel with 6 grooves and a 1:16″ slow twist for enhanced accuracy with lighter-weight match bullets. With a lengthened slide and longer sight radius, the new competition pistol has fully adjustable rear target sights and a fiber optic front sight for rapid target acquisition.

The Ruger American Competition’s stainless steel slide is ported to reduce weight and coated with a durable black nitride finish. The pistol’s slide is also drilled and tapped for mounting red dot optics from a host of manufacturers. The pistol’s grip has a new, aggressive competition texturing that enhances control of the pistol.

The pistols are performance tested for sustained +P ammunition use, have a pre-tensioned striker system that features a powerful striker spring for positive ignition without a heavier trigger pull and a barrel cam which distributes recoil forces over a longer period of time to reduce felt recoil.

The Ruger American Competition has a rigid, one-piece, precision-machined, black nitride, stainless steel chassis with integral frame rails and fire control housing. It, of course, also has ambidextrous controls and a forward Picatinny rail. The new competition pistol has an overall length of 8.3in and a weight of just over 34oz.

You can get an adaptor for the PC Carbine to accept American mags. Perfect pairs fans should be excited.
