SIG Sauer’s latest generation of the MCX now has its own Rattler model. The MCX-Rattler LT combines the features of the LT family with the compact size of the Rattler. How does it differ from earlier Rattlers? Let’s find out.
SIG Sauer @ TFB:
- Danish National Police Select SIG Sauer P320 To Replace HK USP
- NEW Tango-DMR Scopes From SIG Sauer
- 20% Less Recoil – The New SIG Sauer P320-XTEN COMP
- California Welcomes the New CA Compliant SIG Sauer P365
- SIG Sauer P320 XTEN Endure: All-Weather, Limited-Production Firepower
The Rattler LT has the new handguard design seen on the MCX Spear LT. Obviously, though, it is a little shorter. It also incorporates the ambidextrous controls (including right-side bolt catch) seen on the other LT models.
Unlike older Rattler iterations, the Rattler LT has either a 6.75- or 7.75-inch barrel. The original model had a 5.5-inch barrel in .300 Blackout. There are also now three caliber options. Here is a quick breakdown of the current options:
- 5.56 NATO with a 6.5-inch barrel
- .300 Blackout with a 6.5-inch barrel
- 7.62×39 with a 7.5-inch barrel
Both pistol and SBR models are available for each caliber option. It is also very possible that more colors, calibers, or barrel lengths could be added in the future. They are already showing up at dealers as of writing with a street price of around $2,700.
From the manufacturer:
All of the breakthrough features of the original MCX-Rattler now in a more modular, more capable package. Designed to meet the needs of Special Operations forces, the MCX-Rattler LT features fully ambidextrous controls, including an ambidextrous bolt-catch, bolt-release an adjustable gas piston for suppressed and unsuppressed use, and is fitted with the SIG QD suppressor-ready flash-hider and a flat-blade trigger for ultimate control. The MCX-Rattler LT also has either a cold hammer forged 6 or 7 3/4 barrel and is now fully compatible with all MCX barrels and handguards making it the ultimate modular package. Available in 300 blackout, 5.56 NATO as well as 7.62X39 calibers.
