    10x binoculars, no matter how expensive, are not much good for seeing groups at 200 yards and beyond (maybe for 12 gauge slugs).

      @River_rover Those "HD" lenses and modern refractory materials are actually pretty amazing, but yeah it still takes some effort. It's almost worth it to mount them(if they have a mount threading). They still aren't as good as even a modest spotting scope for the range.

    I have a budget 3-9x Vortex scope that came in a special offer with a Mossberg Patriot rifle at Academy and it (and the rifle) work so beautifully, that I couldn't be happier. Makes the SRP on the binoculars look exorbitant. That said, if they are worth the price, then past experience with the budget range of products from Vortex would suggest that they are worth looking at for someone in that market.
