Photo Of The Day and we go for another of U.K. Ministry Of Defense’s Best of Defence Imagery 2023. We’re looking at a spotter and a sniper from The Royal Gurkha Rifles, during the “golden hour” of photography. There’s a reason why this image was chosen, as lighting plays a crucial role in photography, influencing the mood and visual impact of an image. The golden hour, occurring during sunrise or sunset, provides soft, warm light that enhances colors and textures. The shadows also provides cover for this pair of soldiers…

The Royal Gurkha Rifles (RGR) is a regiment of the British Army that has a rich history and is known for its exceptional military prowess and distinctive recruitment from the Gurkha people of Nepal.

Here is the caption with more details:

A spotter and sniper team of Support Company, 1st Battalion (1RGR) The Royal Gurkha Rifles, look through their sights and take cover to look onto enemy positions within their OP (observation point).

Soldiers from C Company 1st Battalion (1RGR) The Royal Gurkha Rifles based in Brunei are deployed in the Northern Territory of Australia taking part in Exercise Pacific Kukri, a multi-national joint exercise with the Australian Defence Force and U.S Marine Corps.

Pacific Kukri is a 5 week deployment and gives the opportunity for 1RGR to undertake defence engagement activities by developing interoperability between the Australian Defence Force & US Marines enhancing relationships within the IAP (Indo-Pacific Asia)
