SIG SAUER's newest P320, the AXG Legion model, was announced in January and is now making its way to dealers.

SIG SAUER announced a new P320 variant earlier this year, at SHOT Show 2023. James Reeves got his hands on one there, and you can check out the video here. This newest model is called the P320-AXG Legion and incorporates a few key features differentiating it from other versions in the extant P320 lineup. The most noticeable is its two-port slide-integrated expansion chamber, in essence, a built-in permanent compensator, which is advertised as reducing recoil by 30%. Some other key points include its optics-ready slide, AXG signature stainless steel frame (AXG indicates Alloy X-Grip, as opposed to polymer), and custom Hogue G10 grips emblazoned with the Legion chevron logo. Read further details below in SIG’s official product description.

Since its inception, the LEGION line of products has represented the pinnacle of SIG SAUER performance and engineering, and the all-new P320-AXG LEGION is no exception. Utilizing the AXG (Alloy XSeries Grip) all-metal grip module finished in the distinctive LEGION Gray Cerakote Elite, the P320-AXG LEGION brings a classic look and feel to the P320 platform. The P320-AXG LEGION’s grip module is fitted with exclusive custom LEGION Hogue G10 grips and an extended magwell for fast, easy reloads. The P320-AXG LEGION is optic-ready and ready to accommodate the SIG SAUER ROMEO1Pro and ROMEO2 red dot optics as well as the Deltapoint Pro, and Trijicon RMR. And with its aggressive new front and rear slide serrations, manipulations are more intuitive than ever.

While this is not SIG’s first in-house compensated P320, it is something of a departure to have the comp component slide-integrated, similar to the P365XL Spectre Comp, rather than affixed to the barrel like the P320 Spectre Comp. With the proliferation of aftermarket comped P320 options, it makes sense to incorporate additional factory choices in this vein. What do you think, readers? Do you like the idea of this built-in compensator? Have you shot other P320s with muzzle-end comps, and how did you like those? Now that these new AXG Legion models are making their way to dealers and retailers, will you be ordering one? Why or why not? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. See you at the range!
