POTD: FAMAS in the 35e Regiment d'Infanterie
The FAMAS – or “Fusil d’Assaut de la Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Étienne” will remain in service for at least the next decade, but it is going to be phased out by the Heckler & Koch HK416F eventually. In our Photo Of The Day, we get another good look at it.
– Initial Military Training of the Reservist – For 3 weeks, Lieutenant Thomas’ section was able to train on various instructions in order to carry out the FMIR.
Painting your face is a very effective camouflage.
In confined spaces the compact size of the French FAMAS is great, but it’s probably not a disadvantage with a short, handy rifle in the jungle either.
To see more pictures of the French standard issue rifles check the following articles: “ L’opération Sentinelle à Dijon – FAMAS & HK416F” and “ Combat Corps à Corps with Bayonets on HK416Fs“. The “ French Foreign Legion With Heckler & Koch HK416F and Bayonets” may also be of interest.
However my all-time favourite is the Monkey Business with the FAMAS.

C'mon, France... everyone knows the FAMAS is a crappy rifle, so just discontinue its use, maybe convert them to semi-auto, and we'll do you a favor and take them off your hands. What d'ya say? ;-D
I heard they have great resale value because most are rarely fired and only dropped once in retreat...France's enemies always make a profit...
