“Go Long-Range” Precision Rifle Series Podcast and Videos from Vortex
The new series is available on YouTube for those who are looking for a good series to watch in the evenings or on their lunch breaks at work. There are also several audio format episodes of the Go Long-Range series on Soundcloud via the Vortex Nation Podcast website link. In what Mark and Jimmy call a “podventure” the Go Long-Range series will be a video series showcasing their training, experiences, and thoughts as they go through their training, gear selection, and competition.
All the training and competition took place at the Vortex proving grounds – the Vortex Vengeance. The PRS series match was a qualifier match that was sponsored by Vortex Optics making use of the dual 1,000 yard ranges at the MKM shooting complex. The match they competed in seemed very heavily geared towards making quick position changes and combined that with some pretty extreme long-range shots with many shots taking place from inside various types of vehicles or even shots at moving targets – something I’ve never come across as of yet. To catch more podventures or dive into the Vortex Nation podcast series on long-range shooting you can visit the Vortex Optics YouTube page or visit the following Soundcloud link to listen to the latest episode of the Go Long-Range series.

Anyone else interested in getting into this "sport" after watching these videos?
The cost of entrance at todays prices is keeping me out. A typical match is 200 rounds of match grade ammo and even for Jimmy from Vortex, he talks about 6.5 Creedmoor as being a dinosaur round in this "game", considering that burns out barrels in 2500 rounds and 6 creed around 1,000 there goes a barrel every 6 or 12 matches respectiveley. Consider the folks you're up against are shooting 6BR, 6GT, 6 Dasher etc with zero recoil in a 20LB gun I say good luck. Then there's the tripods, bags, glass, range finders, wind meters, etc.
Recently Tom Beckstrand covered the 2021 United States Army Special Operations Command Sniper Challenge. Military Bulk 308 ammo across the board was the only round allowed, along with carbine and pistol skills. Personally I find that arrangement to be far more appealing. If we're gonna teach the youth anything about guns it'd be better for them to know they're used to stop (Insert favorite evil human/s) rather than a clock.

You might say I'm off base with that but watching James Reeves at Thunder Ranch for the sniper course and the fact that Clint had to preface the course with telling his students they'd be shooting Humanoid Targets and they need to get over that because that's what they're training for tells me we have a major culture problem that needs solving and I fear for those who may be getting drafted only to look for squares, circles and diamonds to shoot...
I would love to see Vortex make a video of them getting product back in stock.
