TFB Review: Mossberg's Patriot LRT in 6.5 PRC – Marksman on a Budget?
Earlier this year I had the chance to take Mossberg’s Patriot LR Tactical (LRT) out for a spin at Gunsite Academy. The new rifle, chambered in 6.5 PRC in my case, is Mossberg’s adaptation of their previously successful Patriot line of bolt action rifles, which are now being adapted into this new long-range capable rifle. The Patriot action was intended to be Mossberg’s “budget” line of bolt actions and can typically be found starting around $550 MSRP. The Patriot LRT is simultaneously an extension of the Patriot line, being a budget-oriented rifle, but is now a whole different animal with its new long-range chamberings in 6.5 PRC, .308 Winchester, and 6.5 Creedmoor, as well as a brand new MDT stock. Today I’ll share my experiences with the rifle over the last couple of months which should hopefully give you some insight as to whether or not you’d like to pick one of these up for yourself.
The Rimfire Report: The B14R SOLUS – An Unholy Combination of Parts
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many types of guns, ammunition, shooting sports, and history! Last week we featured one of our very own readers’ homemade firearms. Axel’s dedicated 22LR SVD build was quite impressive, if not a bit finicky in the reliability department. A majority of you expressed interest in having his design picked up and refined by a major manufacturer. While I too, wish something like this would happen, it’s probably not in the realm of possibility. This week we’re taking a look at one of my own tinkering projects I’ve been working with over the last couple of months. This project, which I am calling the B14R SOLUS, is a combination of Bergara’s B14R rimfire trainer barreled action, and Aero Precision’s SOLUS Competition chassis and a smattering of other high-end parts and accessories. Why? Most of the fun I get from rimfire is just cheap shooting and training. Since I had the parts lying around and the capability, I simply wanted to do something in the complete opposite direction of “practical” or even “value-conscious.” The B14R SOLUS is supposed to be overpriced, and overbuilt and today we’ll take a look at all the parts I’ve put into it, as well as what ammunition plays best with this unholy combination of rimfire parts.

The Swiss Treatment – New Strike M-LOK ARCA Rail Adapter
ARCA Swiss rails are the epitome of stabilization attachment methods for a number of reasons. Precision target shooters and hunters often use them for high-stress situations where quick readjustments are needed. This quickness of adjustment largely comes from the design of the rail which allows the user to simply slide the rail of the firearm through the adapter and then quickly adjust it for tightness. Strike Industries has just announced the introduction of their new 6.8″ Strike M-LOK ARCA rail adapter which fits most handguards and M-LOK-equipped rifle chassis on the market.

New Sidekick Balance Weight for Long-Range PRS Shooting from Luth-AR
PRS rifles are some of the heaviest in the long-range business, probably save for benchrest rifles. PRS shooters are always looking for ways to improve the weight and balance of their firearms for more optimal results and the folks over Luth-AR have just introduced their new Sidekick Balance Weight for the MBA-1 or MBA-2 buttstock. The Sidekick Balance Weight adds an additional 14.5-oz to the rear of the rifle which could help in offsetting heavier or longer barrels which should result in a more evenly balanced platform.
