T3x, The New Tikka

Tikka, the Finnish manufactured rifle by Sako, has updated their popular T3 line to the “T3x” with nineteen variant builds (which should make Tom Gomez happy since he loves the Tikka):

  • T3x HUNTER
  • T3x HUNTER STAINLESS
  • T3x HUNTER FLUTED BARREL
  • T3x HUNTER STAINLESS FLUTED BARREL
  • T3x BATTUE
  • T3x BATTUE LITE
  • T3x FOREST
  • T3x LAMINATED STAINLESS
  • T3x VARMINT
  • T3x SUPER VARMINT
  • T3x VARMINT STAINLESS
  • T3x COMPACT TACTICAL RIFLE
  • T3x SPORTER
  • T3x CAMO STAINLESS
  • T3x TAC
  • T3x LITE STAINLESS
  • T3x LITE
  • T3x COMPACT
  • T3x LITE ADJUSTABLE

The T3x has a number of new features that make this budget performant rifle a little better out of the box. It has a new modular synthetic stock with interchangeable pistol grips (which are sold separately), allowing the shooter to change the angle to preference (which allows for multiple shooting positions). The stock itself has a new attachment point allowing for the shooter to change the width of the the fore-end.

The grips themselves have been redone with an asymmetrical grip pattern and shape “that has been specifically designed to give a solid grip in all conditions”.

A new recoil pad has been engineered to further reduce the impact of recoil.

To better reduce the stock-generated noises, the new synthetic stocks possess a foam insert (though this feature is not available on models with an adjustable cheek piece).

If you feed a single cartridge at a time, their new widened angular ejection port will assist in making it a bit easier.

Finally, Sako has added extra screw placements on top of the receiver Allowing for a more positive placement and an anchor for a picatinny rail.

If you really want to dress it up a bit, you can get some of the designer Waters Rifleman magazines… 🙂

I think you missed the most important part of the upgrades. Steel recoil lug and a metal bolt shroud. Wich were the two first things i switched out on my T3 (used to be aluminum lug and a plastic shroud). I wonder if the Spuhr ISMS mount now will work with the T3x with new ejection port (had to be modded by a gunsmith before)

The tikka t3 is one my favorite rifles, i think with these upgrades it will soldier on for many years to come!

      Defintiely buried the lead.

I see no reason the T3x stock shouldn’t fit the T3, so I’ll be buying on cheap as dirt here soon! Definitely the best deal in precision rifles right now, and they just fixed the minor gripes people have.

Although I wonder why companies release things so close to – but after SHOT. Surely they could have mocked up a model for the show.

  • They need to introduce a rifle called the “Masala”.

Then they need to start a bull market for them in Oregon, which gets so big and lucrative that it starts influencing state and local governments. Once the National Park Service comes under Tikka’s sway, then the plan will be complete.

Because, as we all know, he who controls the spice, controls the junipers.

    • Badwolf

      Tikka masala…yummy

    • Giolli Joker

I guess you smoked some spice…
However, Masal would be a much better name than Exalibur for the Indian ballistic soap opera…

Any word on when they’re gonna release the Canadian Ranger rifle to the general public?

    • Bill

      Yeah, this.

  • Southpaw89

Love my tikka, will have to swing by their site and check these out.

  • AndyT

    Left handed please!

    • ww

All models are available at LH model. Checked this from finnish tikka site and forums.

  • BobinMI

Has anyone found the MSRP on these. Maybe I’m just slow but I cannot find it anywhere.

  • Budogunner

I’ve got my scope sitting in a box waiting for a factory threaded, .300 Win Mag, detachable magazine Tikka. Any idea if one of these variants is available with threads and in that caliber? The T3 Tactical ,300 Win Mag is made of unobtainium.

  • Rusty S.

Good stuff! Still waiting on those single-set triggers to come stateside, though

Meh, I was hoping for TIkka’s answer to the Ruger Precision Rifle.
Something that comes from the factory with a folding stock and modular handguard so that you don’t have to go looking for aftermarket chassis.
Proprietary expensive mags, no folding stock = meh.
    Just my 0.02.
If Tikka put out something like I described in long/magnum action, they would have a huge success on their hands.

    • Sarig

They do, it’s called the Sako TRG.

      • Geoff

Too much $$$, no folding stock, no railed/modular forend.
