The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for over 8 years. Above you see operators with the Jordanian Maritime Counter Terrorism Team conducting Over the Beach Operations during Exercise Eager Lion 22, which took place in Aqaba, Jordan, in September 2022.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is a photo from the U.S. Central Command that shows U.S. Marines with 5th Platoon, Charlie Company, Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team, Central Command (or FASTCENT). As you can see, there are two spotters and snipers with the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System, in action during a live-fire range operation. According to the caption, FASTCENT provides expeditionary antiterrorism and security forces to embassies, consulates and other vital national assets throughout the region.

Over time, TFB’s Photo Of The Day has become an impressive gallery, with an ever-growing number of images of firearms in all sorts of environments. We’re now looking at images from Titin in Jordan, where U.S. Marines assigned to Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team Central Command (FASTCENT) conduct a live-fire squad attack. The images are from the Exercise Eager Lion 22.

TFB’s  Photo Of The Day and we find ourselves in Aqaba, Jordan, where Jordanian service members assigned to the Maritime Counter Terrorism Team, maintain security at a pier during close-quarter battle drills. This happened during the Eager Lion training exercise in September 2022.

Going over the top with the U.S. Marines. In our Photo Of The Day, the show is performed by USMC Marines as they conduct fire and maneuver training on a fire team assault range in Jordan. They’re armed with the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle made by Heckler & Koch, and it looks like a hot, dry day in the desert.

Every day we run a new theme, a bunch of selected pictures and a short story. Above you can see a U.S. Marine with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, assigned to the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command 20.2, as he fires his M4 Carbine. This took place during a combat marksmanship exercise at a shooting range in Jordan, in August 2020.

Jordanian Armaments and Weapon Systems is a component of King Abdullah II’s Design and Development Bureau. JAWS primarily focuses on small arms production and assembly, both for internal use by Jordanian Armed Forces in addition to some export sales.

If you watch the news often, in any country, you’re probably used to seeing heads of state doing silly things on camera. Planting trees, handing off food to the children, dancing with people, flying combat jets…

In a recent announcement, the U.S. Government has released a 7 million dollar award modification notice for Colt Defense’s over 35 million dollar contract to provide M4 and M4A1s in the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. This modification notice specifically mentions the countries of Georgia, Lebanon, Iraq, Slovakia, Pakistan, and Bahrain.This latest modification tacks on another 7 million dollars for the additional countries, specifically mentioning the number of 8,730 M4/M4A1 carbines. The numbers bring this to around $800 per carbine, but we assume the actual cost per rifle is much lower with the extra cost being taken on by other equipment.

I am not sure what the context is, but I love this photo. The trucks are fitted with revolving turrets, giving the Barrett M82 sniper a 360 degree field of fire.

You might remember that in 2008 George W. Bush was presented with a beautiful engraved CZ 550 rifle chambered in .308 Win by the Czech prime minister. Last year the Jordanian King Abullah II was presented with a nifty SA 58 automatic rifle with a special finish and high-quality walnut furniture.
