POTD: Multinational Sniper Competition – Exercise APEX PREDATOR

Multinational Sniper Competition – it’s pretty difficult to identify all of the sniper rifles in this Photo Of The Day. I think the rifle above is some kind of DMR version of the Heckler & Koch G36. Some may laugh, but I don’t think its lethality should be underestimated. The images are from NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia, as they hosted an event named Exercise APEX PREDATOR, for sniper units operating across the Baltic regions and Poland. Teams representing Canada, Latvia, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom were taking part in the event which tested their ability to engage targets, identify targets, and execute sniper missions.

Photo Of The Day is here once again. Every day we present our readers with at least one photo. The subject is always a firearm of some kind, preferably with a muzzle flash or some action around it. But we’re happy with the perfectly edited still-life photo as well. Above you see a German Soldier conduct offensive operations as part of Exercise Crystal Arrow, from Camp Adazi, Latvia. Within a few years, the Heckler & Koch G36 will be history in the German Armed Forces. It’s been in service since 1997.

What is the (Incredibly Rare) Steyr G62 Assault Rifle?

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is with Brian Marshall of the Steyr Academy to shoot and chat about the Steyr G62 – basically, the H&K G36 perfected. The Heckler & Koch G36 is an amazing modern assault rifle, but Steyr – in collaboration with H&K, Wilcox, and Corax Defence – has improved upon the original H&K G36 design to make what could be the perfect assault rifle. The G62 takes the G36 and replaces the polymer receiver with a light and tough alloy, adds a Steyr match-grade barrel, and includes optional STANAG/AR-15 style magazine compatibility and a powered smart rail with optional accessories and optics. Check today’s video, or read the article from TFB Editor, Matt Moss of The Armourer’s Bench here: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2021/06/14/the-g62-steyrs-improved-hk-g36/
