TFB Review: Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 - The 380 Auto Reimagined

The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 is by all metrics a reimagined pistol from the ground up, but to get to the final product that we have before us today, there was quite a journey that occurred. The original Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 came out around 2010. Simple, tiny, and functional, it was the embodiment of pocket carry. These original models lacked frills and upgrades because they were meant to be basic, affordable, and reliable. Clamor from shooters wanting more brought us the M&P Bodyguard 380. This, in a sense, was a “2.0 variant” without the moniker. It was ever-so-slightly larger, more ergonomic, but the same capacity.

POTD: AKS-74U and SG552 - Beach Ballistics

Thanks to Beach Ballistics we have a pretty fancy Photo Of The Day to share. In my opinion the AKS-74U is the coolest AK ever, but I admit I’ve never fired one and probably never will. A friend of mine owns a Swiss SIG SG552, so I’m more familiar with that. All I could wish for was a better trigger and a free-floating barrel, but I guess it works for grunts and the special forces alike so who am I to complain?

The Rimfire Report: A Closer Look at the “New” HK G36 22LR

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! In this ongoing series, we cover anything and everything rimfire, including ammo, history, and, of course, new guns. While it may be “new” for the reorienting USA division of Heckler & Koch, today’s rifle has garnered a lot of recent interest from the wider community, so I secured a T&E copy for a full review here on TFB. Today, we’ll start at the beginning and take a closer look at this “new” rifle, its brief history so far, and what the rifle has to offer just on the surface. In subsequent articles, we’ll also test it for reliability, accuracy, and all that other good stuff. For now, let's take a look at the HK G36 22LR rifle’s humble beginnings - from the German airgun company Umarex.

We Accuracy Tested the FN SCAR, SIG MCX-SPEAR, and Steyr DMR

In this video, Martin from Austria Arms and I put three of the most talked-about 7.62 battle rifles head-to-head in a real-world accuracy test. We’re talking the FN SCAR 17 Heavy, the SIG MCX-SPEAR, and the brand-new Steyr DMR. All three are piston-driven, modular rifles from top-tier manufacturers—but how do they actually perform on paper? We shot them side-by-side with the same ammo, from the same distance, and the results might surprise you. One of these rifles is supposed to be 1 MOA accurate. Did it deliver? Did any of them? Watch and find out.

TFB Long-Term Review: ECC FR Gloves

Social media and GunTube blew up a few months ago with news and announcements about the new ECC FR gloves. I have been wearing them for the last year and a half for various tasks, both on and off the range. But these are not cheap, with a retail price of $120. Is that price justified, or not?

The Big PK - The FK BRNO BKS 338 Machine Gun

The .338 Norma Magnum has been a prominent topic for bridging capability gaps in military applications for over a decade. Domestic and international defense contractors actively seek to enhance overmatch and increase lethality while reducing the weight to get a larger caliber in the fight. One notable company in this arena is FK BRNO, a Czech defense firm specializing in designing and manufacturing firearms. FK BRNO recently developed the BKS .338 medium machine gun, unveiled at the Eurosatory 2024 defense exhibition. It was an unexpected development since this was the company's first machine gun design.

Concealed Carry Corner: Importance Of Less Lethal Options

Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about how less on your carry gun allows you to do more in everyday life. If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I wanted to take a look at some of the options that you guys bring up when it comes to carrying less-than-lethal options. I plan on breaking this down into a two-part series where we look at some of the benefits of carrying less-than-lethal and why, legally, it may be better to have a less-than-lethal option rather than just solely relying on your gun. Some of the readers have talked about what they carry when it comes to less lethal options, and recently, I hopped on ASP to order some of the less lethal options on the market. Let’s take a look at the idea of carrying less-than-lethal options.

TFB Review: The New Staccato C – The Most Flexible Staccato Yet

The 2011 platform has long been a favorite among competition shooters—fast, accurate, and smooth in a way that makes your average off-the-shelf gun feel clunky in comparison. But let’s be honest: these pistols have historically been big, heavy, and not exactly carry-friendly. Staccato not only noticed this gap in their product lineup but due to the more widespread adoption of Staccato 2011 pistols for not just competition, but duty as well meant that the new Staccato C was an inevitability. Staccato announced its launch earlier in 2024, with the first few pieces shipping out in mid-2024 - mine included. This updated model replaced the earlier single-stack Staccato C, introducing enhancements like a beefier frame and new magazine geometry tailored for versatility in concealed carry, duty, and home defense as opposed to pure competition performance.

How to Choose the Ideal Twist Rate for Your AR-15

Anyone who has built their own AR-15 will have inevitably come across the all-important task of choosing what barrel twist rate they’ll be using. When I built my first AR-15, I relied entirely on a diagram I found on 4chan’s weapons board, /k/, which mapped twist rates to bullet weights. The extremely rudimentary chart clearly identified what common barrel twist rates worked best with what bullet weights, but beyond that, it offered no scientific explanation or reasoning behind it.
