Sheldon, Iowa-based JARD Inc. is venturing into the market of AR-style bolt guns with the release of their new bolt action rifle called J-ARBA (AR Bolt Action). The J-ARBA rifle utilizes a mil-spec AR lower receiver which means it has AR controls and is fed from AR magazines. Being a bolt gun, the rifle is a more efficient suppressor host, has a cleaner action compared to a gas gun, and can be retrofitted with a folding stock as it does not require a buffer and buffer tube to function.

JARD J-ARBA rifle is currently available chambered in 5.56×45 only. The rifle comes standard with a 20″ barrel that has a 1:9″ twist rate. The bolt is nickel plated. J-ARBA rifle has a proprietary single stage trigger with a pull weight of 3 lbs. The rifle will not function with AR-15 triggers. The company offers both complete rifles and upper receiver assemblies. The proprietary trigger is included with the uppers. Complete JARD J-ARBA rifles weigh 6 lbs 7 oz and the weight of the upper assembly is 4 lbs 7 oz.

The MSRP of the JARD J-ARBA upper receiver assembly is $924.95. The complete rifle costs $1,325.85. J-ARBA rifles and uppers come standard with non-threaded muzzles however for an additional $15.95 you can have the muzzle threaded and for $17.95, they’ll add a thread protector.

Let us know in the comments section what you think about this new JARD rifle and the concept of AR-style bolt guns in general. Is the price right for the offered features? Are there other options on the market that you’d rather opt for?
