Armored Republic, formerly known as AR500 Armor, announced the release of their new C3 multi-curve multi-hit Level IV armor plates. The Armored Republic C3 plates are ceramic plates with FragLock coating and Cordura cover. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of these new armor plates.

    Body Armor Articles @ TFB:

Being Level IV rated, the Armored Republic C3 armor plates are capable of stopping a .30-06 Springfield M2 AP round (166gr armor-piercing bullet traveling at a velocity of 2,880 ft/s) and being multi-hit rated, they are advertised to stop three hits of that round if the spacing between the impacts is at least 5-6″. These plates are also rated by the manufacturer to stop multiple hits of 7.62x54mmR B-32 API (155gr bullet at 2,880 fps) and 7.62x39mm PS (123gr bullet at 2,400 fps) rounds.

The 2-axis curvature of the Armored Republic C3 plates is advertised to not only make it comfortable to wear these plates but also make them feel lighter as the weight of the plates is more evenly distributed. The C3 plates are one inch thick, 12″ tall, 10″ wide and weigh 7.1 lbs. The Cordura cover is what makes the Armored Republic C3 plates slightly lighter than the company’s single-curve C2 plates (7.4 lbs) which have the same composition, dimensions and protection level.

The MSRP of Armored Republic C3 Level IV ceramic armor plates is $229. These plates are manufactured in the USA and have a 5-year shelf life. All Armor Republic ceramic plate sales are final as the company will not be able to confirm whether a returned Ceramic plate still has a sound composition since it was first shipped.
