If you own a Steyr AUG and want your 55 gr 5.56 mm rounds to fly out with speeds upwards of one thousand meters per second (3280 fps), then turn to Steyr Arms USA as they now have the 24″ HBAR barrel available again. The price for the 24″ HBAR with Bipod is $725. Preferably pair it with the 42-round waffle magazine you most likely already own. Just beware that the barrel is not free-floating, so don’t put a lot of pressure on the bipod.

Here’s how Steyr Arms USA describe the Steyr AUG 24″ HBAR barrel:

The AUG HBAR barrel returns to the USA. Originally designed to be paired with the 42 round AUG waffle magazine, the HBAR allows for extended and controllable strings of fire. The HBAR’s classic profile brings both form and function, pushing a 55gr 5.56 round at upwards of 3280 fps (1000m/s).

There are 4 colors available to match your current AUG – black, mud, white and green.

24″ AUG Barrel with Bipod. The increased diameter of the barrel was designed for extended fully-automatic fire and heat control. All AUG HBAR barrels ship with the classic, aggressive vertical recoil mitigation muzzle device and adjustable-cant bipod. Like all AUG barrels currently being produced, these barrels are cold-hammer forged in Steyr, Austria before being machined and assembled in the USA.

I think the 24″ HBAR version is one of the coolest AUGs and bullpups around – ever! What is your opinion? Let us know in the comments.
