FN America has a new .22 LR pistol, the 502 MRD. It takes the existing 502 and adds an optics-ready slide. Much like the original, it features a 10-round capacity and a single-action-only hammer.

The most notable new feature of the 502 MRD is its compatibility with red dot sights. It uses the Low-Profile Optics-Mounting System” which is FN’s standard optics system. That system is also found on the 509 Tactical models. It uses a variety of plates to fit microdots to the slide.
Unfortunately, the 502 MRD is not available in New York City, Illinois, Minnesota, or Hawaii because those jurisdictions have so-called “melting point laws.” Those laws prohibit guns with lower melting points than traditional steel guns. The 502 MRD has an MSRP of $469. It is available in FDE or black. Look for it at a dealer near you soon.

From the manufacturer:
The 502 MRD is designed for maximum fun, but don’t let great range days mislead you, this red-dot-ready rimfire is built with enduring accuracy and quality in mind, patterned after its big brother, the FN 509. The target-grade fire control delivers faster, more accurate shots from an optics-ready platform. Mounting a favorite red dot and cycling a wide range of .22 LR ammo makes a low-cost range day a high-end experience. Superior ergonomics and ambidextrous controls make it perfect for high round count training sessions.
