Above you see operators from the 20th Special Forces Group as they conduct an aerial assault mission during a training exercise near Chester Township, Michigan, in August 2022. The 20th Special Forces Group is a United States Army National Guard Special Forces unit. It is one of the two National Guard Special Forces groups and is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The group’s primary mission is to provide highly trained and specialized soldiers to support U.S. national security objectives both domestically and internationally.

    The mission was part of Northern Strike, an annual multinational joint training event headquartered at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center in Michigan.
