POTD: Special Forces with M240B Machine Gun
Our Photo Of The Day can be chosen for a variety of reasons. An offensive muzzle flash from an M240B machine gun operated by Special Forces is always a good reason. Above you see a soldier assigned to the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School during tactical skills training as part of the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) at Camp Mackall, North Carolina in January 2023.

One of my last XOs was a old school Special Forces cat. If I remember correctly he was originally an 18B. Along with his jump wings he had his combat diver and pathfinder badge. The stories he had...
One of them was a test where they were given a box of weapon parts and they had to assemble as many as they can within an allotted amount of time. If any of the assembled weapons failed a functionality test it was an automatic no go.
That muzzle flash is so big because BFA.
