We are already in the midst of trying times when it comes to ammunition. Not only are things currently hard to come by and overpriced but we now have numerous reports that several nefarious individuals are mimicking real-world ammunition producers and tricking their customers into buying non-existent ammunition. Fort Scott Munitions recently put out an email blast warning their customers of a scam ammo retailer currently using a nearly identical domain name. Fort Scott Munitions is well known for their Tumble Upon Impact (TUI) ammunition lineup.

Scam Ammo Warning: Will the Real For Scott Munitions Please Stand Up?
Scam ammo dealers are pretty rampant on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram but it is just a bit harder to set up a scam ammo retailer on a proper website. However, fortscottmunitions.org is one such site that has cropped up that creates a pretty convincing website but is in fact 100% a scam and Fort Scott Munitions is trying their best to warn customers away from the domain.
It has come to our attention there is a fake website impersonating Fort Scott Munitions. We are currently looking into getting the website taken down.
In the meantime, DO NOT purchase from or communicate with fortscottmunitions.ORG (we are .com, the fake website is .org).
DO NOT respond to emails from [email protected] (again, we are .com, they are .org).
We are in no way affiliated with them.
I wrote an article a while back that goes into detail about how to spot scam ammo dealers online but it is much harder in this particular case since the website will allow you to go through the process of purchasing items and even has ammunition priced where you’d expect it to be for the times we are in. The scam ammo website is currently stealing imagery, pricing, and a bunch of other credible data from the real website so you should use extra caution when purchasing products from Fort Scott Munitions. One thing that I did notice that separates the fake website from the real website is the absence of any social media links (the real site has all of Fort Scott Munitions’ socials on the page). Even basic security items like an SSL certificate are present on the scam website.
Please be careful when purchasing anything online especially if it looks too good to be true! I hope Fort Scott Munitions can get the scam website taken down in short order to limit the impact it has on any unsuspecting customers.
