POTD: Belgian Sniper with Suppressed FN SCAR

    Belgian Sniper with FN SCAR

Photo Of The Day – Today we’re sharing some wonderful images from the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre. We’ve seen some other selected images from this event before, and it’s an event that just keeps on giving like a summer holiday on Crete.

The picture above with the Belgian Special Forces Sniper and his FN SCAR, B&T Suppressor on a tripod is just perfect. I’m surprised he’s not using gloves, but the double magazine carrier in his belt is a nice touch. To crown a Schmidt & Bender with a Wilcox RAPTAR-S makes me jealous, but I’m not sure I’d use a QD mount for that system.

The caption for these images goes:

From 19th to 23th April 2021 the NMIOTC Maritime Sniper Course took place at NMIOTC premises and in the broader area of Chania Crete.
    During the course, the participants:
    • Engaged and delivered fire from land to floating targets at sea
    • Engaged and delivered fire from helicopter to stable and also towed targets at sea.
    • Engaged and delivered fire from a naval vessel to stable and also towed targets at sea.
    • Planned and conducted Sniper Operations in Maritime Environment.
The course was delivered from NMIOTC instructors, guest instructors from Greek Armed Forces and Coast Guard SOF teams and also from the International Special Training Centre (ISTC)
It was attended by 22 trainees from 6 countries (Belgium, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands and U.S.A.).

Note the similarity in gear used by civilian PRS shooters with soft bags attached to the rifle. That’s also a lot of very long suppressors in one picture.

Below we have another Belgian Special Forces Sniper taking aim at floating targets. The course was designed to improve the accuracy of snipers engaging stable or moving targets from land, air, and naval vessels. Beware of barrel support.

    Class of 2021.
