SIG Sauer is a worldwide leader in the design and production of firearms, and has been for many years. This is common knowledge. What is a bit less well-known is that SIG is also heavily involved in the training aspect of firearms, not just in manufacturing. They well understand that it isn’t good enough just to have quality guns, we must also be experienced, trained, and proficient in their use. To this end, they maintain the SIG Sauer Academy in Epping, New Hampshire. They describe this facility as:
“The Very Best in Self-Defense, Firearms, and Tactics Training
From executive protection to active shooter response, from close quarters combat and basic marksmanship to long range sniper training, the SIG SAUER Academy has provided the highest quality firearms and tactics training available anywhere in the United States for more than two decades. Located on over 140 acres in Epping, NH – only an hour from Boston, MA – our facility features state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor ranges, tactical training areas, urban environments, a shoot house, a maritime training area, and a force-on-force village. The SIG SAUER Academy offers a comprehensive arsenal of more than 100 courses for the armed professional and responsible citizen. Any civilian defensive firearms usage scenario is worst-case. It’s a last resort that you hope you never have to deal with, and you should endeavor to avoid if at all possible. Unfortunately, the reality of the world is that for the unlucky few, it may become necessary in dire circumstances. That is why many of us own firearms and train with them – just in case. Sadly, not everyone finds themselves as prepared when trouble finds them. Some people simply aren’t proactive and don’t gain that readiness mindset until after the fact. The SIG Sauer Academy recently provided a week’s worth of quality defensive training in a case like this, and they have released a six-part video series entitled “Empower the People” which chronicles the student’s journey. Check out the videos on their website, and see below for their introduction to the series.
SIG SAUER is proud to present “Empower the People.” This 6-part series follows Kimberly Corban’s journey at SIG SAUER Academy as she learns just how important firearms training can be for the average gun owner.
Kimberly’s life was irrevocably changed when a stranger broke into her college-area apartment, held her captive for two hours, and sexually assaulted her. She immediately reported the crime to the authorities and served as the key witness in her attacker’s trial, successfully garnering a sexual assault conviction.
“I figured I was going to come here and I was going to be taught to put a lot of bullets down the range,” said Kimberly following her training at the Academy. “I thought that I was going to figure out how to shoot at a target. That’s not it at all. It’s the stance, it’s being aware of my surroundings, it’s the mental aspect of everything you go through before you get to that draw. I know that this is something that I need to pursue so much more.
The SIG Academy offers many courses at all levels, from introductory to advanced.
