POTD: Benelli M4 Shotgun

Shotguns – one of the most powerful hand-held firearms civilians are allowed to own. Often underestimated, as it can be used in so many ways by just changing the ammunition: birdshot, buckshot or slugs and other variants.

Of course, a shotgun has limits, you don’t see too many of them on the Long Range Precision course, but don’t underestimate how accurate a slug can be. In this case, we’re looking at the Benelli M4 shotgun in TFB’s Photo Of The Day.

A student assigned to the U. S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School who is in the Special Forces Weapons Sergeant Course fires a Benelli M4 shotgun during weapons training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina May 12, 2020. The Soldiers were trainined to employ, maintain and engage targets with select U.S. and foreign pistols, rifles, shotguns, submachine and machine guns, grenade launchers and mortars and in the utilization of observed fire procedures. Which is your favorite shotgun? What’s your favorite load?

Remington 870 and Federal tactical 00 Buck or Remington 000 Buck. I owned three Benelli shotguns and they were the most unreliable shotguns I ever owned. Customer service was terrible.

I have to stick to the practical side. 12 ga. pump, 6 shots, 2 3/4 00 buck. Started out with 20 ga single shot, full choke, on squirrels, then 16 ga semi on quail and dove. All good shotguns.
