[TriggrCon 2019] Night Fision “Student Of The Gun” Accur8 Sights

As TriggrCon 2019 was winding down on its last day, I came across Night Fision. For those who are unaware, Night Fision comes from… Night Vision + Nuclear Fission = Night Fision. They bring over 25 years of manufacturing experience with Tritium to the firearms industry. Although they always have top-notch sights on hand, I had not realized they had brought with something new to TriggrCon. They introduced to me their NEW Accur8 Sights that were developed in conjunction with “Student of the Gun.”

Night Fision had approached Paul Markel, Founder and President at Student of the Gun, requesting help in testing out sights that could be used by law enforcement as well as everyday firearm enthusiasts like you and I for defense. Paul Markel preached the importance of having a bold front sight (so the shooter’s attention was dominated by the front as opposed to the rear). Paul Markel also shared these words:

The combination of Tritium and front sight color allows the shooter to use them in all light conditions. Not just on sunny days at the range. The construction is solid steel so they will be robust enough for genuine field or duty use. The rear sight Tritium is dim enough not to overpower the front but is still visible in low light.

The design that was finally decided on is displayed above. A tritium and colored Perfect Dot™ front sight with crisp 90 degree edges that rests in a rear sight pocket also with sharp 90 degree edges and a tritium Perfect Dot™ sight. This unique combination of sight height, size, and coloration was believed to be the best all-around combination for shooters from all experience levels. At the moment, these are the pistol platforms it is available for:

    • Glock 17, 17L, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 39
    • Glock 42, 43
    • Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD .40 S&W, .45 ACP, 9mm Models (Excluding C.O.R.E. Series)
    • CZ-USA P-10 C

The MSRP for the Night Fision Acrru8 sights is set at $117. An unintended, but an additional benefit is that these fighting pistol sights work with or without a silencer in place. These sights, as is, still allow the shooter to accurately place shots if a silencer is attached. Also, while using Black Hills Ammunition 124 grain Jacketed Hollow Point that trucks along at 1,150 FPS you have point-of-aim to point-of-impact accuracy out to 25 yards. This should be applicable to similar 1,150 FPS 9mm ammo as well. Finally, these are all of your color options for the Accur8 sight:

    • Blue Front Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium + Black Rear Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium
    • Orange Front Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium + Black Rear Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium
    • Red Front Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium + Black Rear Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium
    • White Front Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium + Black Rear Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium
    • Yellow Front Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium + Black Rear Perfect Dot™ with Green Tritium

I know many of us have a lot of experience shooting handguns, but have you ever slowed your shooting down and thought this painstakingly about the dimensions and color of your sights before? Do you believe this type of configuration from Night Fision with their Accur8 would benefit you? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
