With the summer months upon us, and the friendly weather for the majority of shooters, we have decided to start a new weekly/semi-weekly/occasional post featuring a submitted build, by you, our readers.  We are calling it, you guessed it, “Build of the Week”.

One of the awesome things about the current state of technology and components is that you have the ability to customize nearly everything about most firearms you own.  You can change everything from the internal components all the way to the external appearance, generally with very little effort and cost, making your weapon unique to you.  Granted this doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I would wager, based on what is available in the market, that there is some demand out there.

The build can be of any type of firearm: rifle, pistol, shotgun, a crew-served weapon with tactical tassels, muzzleloader….  It doesn’t matter so long as it is not “just another black rifle”.

Using the below form, send us some good high-quality photos of your build along with a description of what notable components you used, why you built it out, what you learned during the process, etc.

Sharps Lower, Seekins Precision Upper, slightly custom Cerakote (or was it just rattle can?)….

If we can get enough submissions and the feature is popular enough we will start hosting contests for some sort of cool prize (and early submitters will not be left out).  Like an autographed pair of James’ shorts.  Or an outdated calendar or something.  Maybe even a job as our next top-tier writer? Who knows.

You can find the Build of the Week submission form at: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/build-of-the-week-submission/

Also, in case you missed it, we also have a Photo of the Day feature, where you can submit an interesting photo of something firearms related you would like to share.  We publish most of these as they come in and you can submit them at: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/photo-day-submission/

Tom is a former Navy Corpsman that spent some time bumbling around the deserts of Iraq with a Marine Recon unit, kicking in tent flaps and harassing sheep. Prior to that he was a paramedic somewhere in DFW, also doing some Executive Protection work between shifts. Now that those exciting days are behind him, he teaches wilderness medicine and runs an on-demand medical staffing business. He hopes that his posts will help you find solid gear that will survive whatever you can throw at it–he is known (in certain circles) for his curse…ahem, ability…to find the breaking point of anything.
