TFB Review: Pulsar Axion XQ30 Pro – The Thermal Pocket Rocket

This is a review of the brand-new Pulsar Axion XQ30 Pro, a pocket-sized thermal monocular. Unlike quite a few of the thermals we review, the price of this thermal monocular should also fit most people’s pockets. To begin with, the small size of this device has to be mentioned. Previously, a small-sized thermal has always meant a compromise in image quality, but modern technology and development can also put old truths and preconceptions to shame. Let’s see how the XQ30 Pro performs!

TFB Review: Aimpoint Duty RDS with 3X-C Magnifier (+Thermal)

This is a review of the Aimpoint Duty RDS with 3X-C Magnifier – 39mm FlipMount & TwistMount base. As a bonus, we added Pulsar’s new PSP-V Adapter to add some thermal capability to the system. Due to the supply and demand situation in the World, it was quite difficult to get our hands on some of these components, but Aimpoint were kind to send me some samples for testing earlier this spring. The Aimpoints have been used on a variety of platforms like the Heckler & Koch MR223, Ruger Precision Rifle and an AR15 in .300 Blackout.

POTD: When Spectrums Collide – Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 LRF Pro on H&K MR223

Photo Of The Day: The “cool thing” today isn’t really the picture with the suppressed Heckler & Koch MR223 above. Instead, it’s the merged image below where you can see a mixture of a digital photo from an iPhone with what the thermal riflescope sees (white hot). The riflescope is the brand new Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 LRF Pro. The box on top of the riflescope is a laser rangefinder, which is very quick in sending the distance to the target back to the user. The distance is displayed on the on-screen display so the hunter can make an accurate shot. You can see in the videos below how it works.

Pulsar PSP-V Adapter – Attach your Thermal to Picatinny

At the recent IWA exhibition in Germany, Pulsar showed a new setup to attach their thermal front attachments to red dots and riflescopes with the help of an adapter. The product launch is now upon us and is called the PSP-V adapter. It is designed to mount the Proton and Krypton FXG50 thermal imaging attachments in front of optical sights on hunting and sporting weapons with Weaver/Picatinny rails, found on most modern sporting and AR‒15 platform rifles. An adapter may not sound like huge news, but it will actually make it a lot easier to use thermals on a lot of rifles.
