This time last year TFB and TFBTV cast and crew were busy making any last minute plans for SHOT Show 2020. With the COVID-19 shutdown of our favorite show, TFB and TFBTV set into motion what would become the event of a lifetime. Actually, it was just a bunch of guys snapping pictures, shooting video and writing by day and drinking fine beverages by night.

Steiner Optics was at the NRA Show in a big way, featuring their latest and brand new updates to the DBAL laser light combination units. At the show, they showcased two new models for handguns, the DBAL-PL v2, SBAL-PL v2.

While, yes, the focus of our little endeavor here is “firearms” we also play nice with our other ballistic friends including air rifles, including showing some coverage love for the interesting developments in air rifle technologies. PCP rifles have been making huge strides, but fundamentally they all power the same ammunition, which has its limitations (relatively speaking).

Nikon has announced the release of their BDC reticle in the First Focal Plane. Touted as the “Distance Lock” function, the FFP scopes are now available across a variety of scopes with different capabilities.

Falkor Defense (formally known as SI Defense) has released a variety of new accessories for the Modern Sporting Rifle and other platforms. The new accessories are the product of their “ShadowWorks” research and development team.

Next up in the race to SHOTShow is Kimber, which announced a veritable plethora of new firearms for the new year. Their core line of 1911s is no slouch for new offerings including multiple new SKUs and new chamberings for older models.

Continuing to build on their legacy of fantastic national match rifles, Armalite has re-released their National Match rifles, now including a .308 version of their AR-10 platform. The rifles are built on an exclusive triple-lapped 416-R stainless barrel in 1/10 twist (idea for 150-175 grain loads). Further equipped with a matching A2-style flash suppressor, the rifle also includes a two-stage trigger (1st- 2.5 lbs, 2nd – 4.5 – 5 lbs).

Its not everyday that someone introduces a new line of ammunition, much less one that is injection-molded, lead-free, and claims that the ideal self-defense round does not expand. But, today (er, yesterday), was the day and PolyCase, a company out of Savannah, Georgia, introduced its Inceptor line of ammunition.

Good grief. The new MagPul products just keep coming! Uncle Sam meets Mother Russia with the announcement of steel-reinforced AK magazines, M-LOK handguard for AKs, stocks for AKs and more.

Osage COunty guns is at it again. They continue to spill the beans on full line releases and pricing for major OEMs. Now up is Smith & Wessons news handguns for 2015 including their Carbon Fiber “finished” line of M&P handguns.

UPDATE: Chris Cheng was at the event and has posted up live pictures of the new suppressor mounted to various Mossberg, Remington, and Benelli weapon systems. 

Billed as the “largest international land and air-land defense and security exhibition” Eurosatory 2014 kicked off in Paris on the 16th.  Announced during the exhibition are four new rifles from Kalashnikov Concern (formerly Izhmash).  Among them are the SV-338 Sniper Rifle, Saiga MK-107 Civilian Version, Saiga-9 and Saiga-12 Model 340.

Wilson Combat has gone further up-market with their latest release: The Pinnacle. Based on their Classic Supergrade, the Pinnacle adds most of the available customization options available at Wilson Combat. In addition, the discerning customer will get hand-engraving in old-fashioned patterns and a custom wooden case.

Ohio Ordnance Works has been busy preparing their new HCAR for release. Originally debuted in 2013, reports from Bearing Arms indicate that the rifle will be heading to production soon.
