Wow.

Angstadt Arms makes AR-style firearms mostly focusing on pistol caliber carbines (PCC). Well, they just announced a new style of PCC lower that features a modular magwell. Angstadt Arms calls it the AXL-9 receiver.

Motor City Armament unveiled their Illiad and Odyssey monolithic uppers at SHOT Show 2023. They have a new take on AR-15 modularity, especially with their Odyssey monolithic upper.

While researching the Indian small arms procurement program and reading the news from the DefExpo 2022 exhibition, I came across quite an interesting Indian rifle called INDRA (name of a Hindu deity) made by Astr Defence, a private small arms manufacturing company from Hubballi, Karnataka, India. INDRA is a gas-operated multi-caliber modular rifle that apparently has been in development for several years. Let’s take a closer look.

Continuing the coverage of new firearms released at the ARMY 2022 exhibition, today we’ll take a look at the new SV-21 bolt action rifle introduced by the  Kalashnikov Concern. The SV-21 is offered in 7.62x54mmR and .308 Winchester calibers and its main feature is the quick barrel change system.

Adept Armor has just released their new modular Storm System body armor that allows users to adapt their armor to the needs of why it’s being worn. The Storm System body armor starts with a Level III Foundation plate, that can then be up-armored with one of two options, the Storm Titanium, plate for speedy projectiles like 5.56 or 5.45, or the Storm Disruptor, which is a ceramic-based add-on plate to bump the Storm System to a Level IV. The Foundation and Titanium plates can both be worn as standalone options, whereas the Disruptor is only designed as a combination to the Foundation.

Wearing a fully loaded plate carrier, helmet, battle belt, a rifle, and a pistol looks really cool. The problem is that that stuff gets heavy, and I’m rarely in the mood to carry it all. The other problem with all of that gear is that as a civilian, the chances of me ever using it for its intended purpose is slim. Something smaller and more concealable usually fits the bill for what I should be training with in order to be proficient with my gear. Chest rigs can be great for carrying no more than you need, and Strike Industries has entered the chest rig game with their Strike Gear Boogeyman Chest Rig and Strike Gear accessories.

In addition to their many excellent pistols and rifles, SIG Sauer produces a robust array of complimentary product offerings. From optics to ammo and more, SIG does quite a bit more than just guns. One of these supplemental lines is their own collection of suppressors. SIG cans come in a baker’s dozen versions, suited for a broad spectrum of calibers from rifles to handguns, and one rimfire silencer. The newest addition to this suppressor series is the MODX-45, of which we first got a glimpse at SHOT Show 2019. SIG’s 9mm version of this modular, 3D-printed design released late last year. On the heels of its 9mm little brother, this .45-caliber can is now ready. SIG announced its availability with the following April 29th press release.

Zastava Arms USA will have a new M70 AKM configuration coming around in late February 2021. Zastava USA brought their new rifle to TFB’s GunFest 2021 for us to get a good look. The modernized M70 will have numerous new features coming from the factory, such as a specially made muzzle brake, full length, M-LOK compatible aluminum handguard, a side-mounted optics rail that’s aligned with the barrel, along with a Tango Down pistol grip and Magpul Zhukov stock.

Anytime you have a gathering of gun guys, you’ll almost certainly find that they’re also into all the other gear and gadgets that go along with firearms. For many shooting enthusiasts, that gear includes nylon-type products such as plate carriers, mag pouches, IFAK pouches, and the like. Earlier this year, TFB reported on the introduction of Defense Mechanisms, a new player in the tactical nylon scene. With a strong emphasis on customizability, Defense Mechanisms has come out swinging with a modular plate carrier system and a modular placard/pouch line, among their other products like rifle slings and ankle medical rigs. Far from resting on their laurels, in the wake of their significant initial release Defense Mechanisms has just announced several additions to their product offerings. You can now expand your Mission Essential Plate Carrier’s capabilities with new side plate bags, zippered full pocket and half pocket placard components, and single pistol mag pouches.

Multi-caliber user optimized silencer system – that’s how a company called Enfield Rifle Company describes their Novus suppressor which they have introduced recently. What sets this suppressor apart from the competition is that it comes with three sets (.224, .357 and .458 caliber) of six baffles stored inside it that allow configuring this suppressor for optimal performance with a variety of different pistol and rifle calibers up to and including .45 ACP and .458 SOCOM.

GEMTECH Suppressors has announced their newest silencer — the Modular Lunar 9.  The modular Lunar 9 allows end users to convert it from a full size 7″ configuration to a shorter 4.7″ configuration while remaining hearing safe.

Choate Machine and Tool has announced the release of a new modular chassis called C Mod. The new chassis is compatible with Remington 700 short action footprint receivers. Its modularity is expressed in the ability to change the stocks and forearms without a need for removing the barrelled action from the actual chassis. According to the company, “This modularity provides the ultimate in adaptability and versatility while not disturbing the critical action-to-stock fit so reconfirming zero is unnecessary after configuring the system as needed.”

During the Arms & Security 2018 exhibition held in Kiev, Ukraine, the Ukrainian FORT state corporation has introduced a new assault rifle prototype called FORT-250. The information on this new rifle is very scarce. The only currently available source that shows and gives a more or less detailed description is a video published by a YouTube channel called  kajabaTSA.

On September 19, while reporting the Gunsmith’s Day events in Izhevsk, a Russian TV channel showed non-firing prototypes of a modular weapon system designed by the students of  Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University.
