Wilson Combat unveiled the fifth pistol (Series 5) of their  Limited Ten series of custom 1911 handguns. As the name of the series implies, the pistols of this collection are produced in a quantity of ten units. The Limited Ten series pistols have unique features that can not be found in other Wilson Combat handguns. Added to the Cabot Guns OAK (One-of-A-Kind) Collection is a new masterpiece dubbed Fountainhead. This custom 1911 pistol is embellished with engraving motifs praising two American architects, Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, who are believed to be the inspiration for Ayn Rand to create the characters of her The Fountainhead novel. Hence the name of the pistol, Cabot Fountainhead.

Alchemy Custom Weaponry (ACW) is a maker of handcrafted 1911’s. The handguns are designed by Rob Schauland – a master gunsmith. ACW is now offering limited availability full custom build projects. This could provide some much-needed variety for people who are bored with cookie-cutter firearms.

Vermont-based Atlas Gunworks have unveiled their new tactical 9x19mm 1911, the Titan Operator. Unlike Atlas’s line of competition 1911s, the Titan Operator is said to be optimised for duty and carry.

Recently the author embarked on heavily modifying a Kimber Custom II Series 80 style 1911. In the process he ordered custom parts, some of which will be reviewed on TFB.
