Welcome back to another run of our Photo Of The Day. Today we have a big Ka-Boom in the form of the M3E1 Multi-purpose Anti-armor Anti-personnel Weapon System, otherwise also known as the Carl Gustaf 8.4 cm recoilless rifle.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day is here again. Every day we present our readers with at least one photo. The subject is always a firearm of some kind, preferably with a muzzle flash or some action around it. Above you see a Swedish soldier with an 84 mm Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifle (8,4 cm Granatgevär M/86) firing a smoke grenade in order to mark targets in the terrain. The photo was taken during Baltic Striker 22 exercise.

Photo Of The Day and we’re in for a blast. The firepower of the 84 mm M2 Carl Gustaf anti-tank recoilless rifle is huge, but so is the blast. All that energy needs to go somewhere and in these pictures it’s clear. Above we have soldiers from The Norwegian Home Guard in Trøndelag practicing shooting with the 84mm recoilless rifle during the exercise Trøndelag 2017.

In today’s  Photo Of The Day, we have 17 nations working together for defence and deterrence in NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia. Here they are in Estonia as part of the multinational exercise called Spring Storm. Above you can see soldiers with FN SCARs. I think a lot of our readers would like to find an FN SCAR 20S under the Christmas tree?

The US Army has awarded a $100 million contract to Saab for Carl Gustaf ammunition and AT4 recoilless Rifle systems which will supply the USMC and JSOC. This contract is an “indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity” (IDIQ) contract. This essentially means that all three entities can buy more than $400 million worth of the systems and ammunition during a 5 year period.
