POTD, short for Photo Of The Day, is TFB’s daily article series where we try to find pictures that will entertain and educate you. Did you know that credit for the first-ever color photograph taken goes to the mathematical physicist James Clerk Maxwell? At a lecture in 1861, he unveiled what is to be considered the first durable color photograph. It certainly sounds like an interesting lecture.

In 2019 TFB were the first to discover the new Heckler & Koch HK417P model. To the best of our knowledge, this is the rifle we’re looking at in the front row. The HK417P was made for Austria and is a combination of the HK417 assault rifle and G28 precision rifle. It is a semi-automatic only rifle.

Choosing the right bipod and having a perfect height set just before a stage is quite often the key to success in a competition. One bipod isn’t enough to do everything you’re likely to require from it over a few stages. Shooting practical rifle and precision rifle competitions (in my case mainly IPSC, PRS and hybrids between these) for more than 10 years has “given” me quite a collection of bipods. I have stayed away from the “cheap and risky” ones, but there are a few from B&T Industries, Magpul and Harris to chose from at home. Some I have modified to suit my needs better. I even have one set with what used to be ski poles that can be used to shoot standing.

In my previous How To Shoot Long Range articles I have discussed an overview of precision long-range shooting, the types of rifles used, and the types of optics most people use to impact steel and animals at “long range.”  In this installment, I will throw out a few of the commonly used accessories that I see being used by Precision Rifle Series (PRS) competitors and precision rifle enthusiasts.

I mounted the brand new Zeiss V8 4.8-35×60 on a rifle (Ruger Precision Rifle) and wanted to see how it behaved in twilight and darkness.
