Rossi has several new chamberings in the R95 lever gun family, all with straight wall cartridges. This is great news for hunters in states with straight wall restrictions. Let’s go through the models and see what the new caliber options are.

Rossi @ TFB:

These new models all feature stocks with a formed pistol grip rather than the straight stock normally seen on the R95. 20-inch barrels are standard on all models. The steel is treated with a black oxide finish. Here are the four new models:

  • .360 Buckhammer - 5 rounds - MSRP $1060.99
  • .444 Marlin - (capacity not listed) - MSRP $1060.99
  • .44 Remington Magnum - 10 rounds - MSRP $946.99
  • .357 Magnum - 10 rounds - MSRP $946.99

The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount. All models have a listed weight of 111 ounces, or just shy of seven pounds.

Since they make the R92 in both .44 Mag and .357 Mag, I'm not sure why they bothered to chamber the R95 in those calibers. The R92 is lighter and less expensive and of course the cartridges are all straight walled. In .357, .44 or .45 Colt, it is a perfectly adequate deer rifle out to 100 to 150 yards.

Unlike the top ejecting R92, the R95 is side ejection, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for an optical device.
