I asked Stubbs what inspired him to take on this latest project and he had this to say:
I’d say my inspiration for it was that I immediately took it apart to see how it worked, and I realized the floorplate was similar to Magpul’s
With that fact in mind, Stubbs also combined some 3D printing skills and got to work. Using the Strike Industries Enhanced Magazine Plates as a starting point, Stubbs designed his own magazine plate to match the wider S60 magazine.
Stubbs then printed out his piece on his home-brew 3D printer using PLA filament. Stubbs believes that his Extendo Extender can be printed on literally any 3D printer. The print file includes a dimpled area for an M5 bolt which screws into the existing S60 magazine to keep it secure. However, any similar-sized bolt will work as long as it is drilled and tapped properly. Alternatively, the extension can simply be glued on for convenience.
