XLR Industries ATOM Bolt Action Pistol/SBR Chassis

XLR Industries has added a new product to their line of bolt action rifle chassis. The new chassis is called ATOM. It is a Remington 700 footprint chassis and while it can be used with rifle-length barreled actions, its short forearm and starting weight of 27oz should make it especially attractive for bolt action pistol or SBR builds. Let’s see what features the XLR Industries ATOM chassis packs.

XLR Industries ATOM chassis has two versions that differ by the material they are made of – 6061 T6 aluminum or AZ61A magnesium. Both versions are available in short and long action lengths. The chassis is compatible with AICS pattern detachable box magazines, AR-15 buffer tubes/stocks and flat top pistol grips. The XLR Industries multi-point radial cut inlet eliminates the need for a V-block or glass bedding and the installation of the barreled action into the ATOM chassis only requires a torque wrench. The ATOM chassis also features a built-in bubble level, an integrated Arca Swiss rail at the bottom and M-LOK slots at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions of the forearm.

The weight of the ATOM chassis block (without stock or grip) is 20oz or 14oz for short action aluminum and magnesium versions respectively. The 27oz starting weight mentioned in the first paragraph is the weight of the magnesium short action chassis with a carbon fiber stock and pistol grip installed. The overall length of the chassis block is 14 11/16″. The short forend allows having a minimum barrel length of 5.5″ on short actions and 4.75″ on long actions.

The MSRP of the XLR Industries ATOM chassis is $399 for the aluminum version and $549 for the magnesium-made one. These prices are for the chassis block only. When ordering the chassis, you can add an XLR Industries TR-2 adjustable stock (+$150) or a carbon fiber fixed stock (+$300) as well as one of the six pistol grip options (+$41.5-$179). There are also multiple optional accessories such as a side folding stock adapter, thumb rest, bipod and sling adapters, Picatinny rail sections, etc. Both versions of the chassis are available in one of the following Cerakote color/camo options (some for an additional cost).
