I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a wheel gun guy.  I like to think of myself as an equal-opportunity firearms enjoyer, but I’ve spent far more time browsing magazine-fed firearms over the years. That said, there’s always been a soft spot in my heart for the Colt Python.  It’s sorta like a 1969 Mustang Fastback.  Doesn’t matter if you’re a Mustang guy or not, not liking one is simply downright un-American.

I missed an opportunity to pick up one of these beauties years ago.  And no, it was the factory finish and didn’t look like it could have been a collector’s piece held by a cartel member. I know we’ve used that joke a lot on this series, but honestly, who buys a Colt Python and thinks “Man, I really need to make this cooler somehow”? Even with well-done engraving work, I’d prefer the factory finish options. I hope the TiN-coated fad starts to fade because this gold-on-a-budget look is starting to get annoying (yes I get it’s functional in certain applications).

What do you think?  Is this Colt Python worth it as a classic alone for $4.5k or are you better off saving that money for a rainy day?  As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
