POTD: Ohio Ordnance REAPR – Machine Gun in .338 Norma Magnum

    Ohio Ordnance REAPR

You’re watching and reading TFB’s Photo Of The Day, and we have a belt-fed monster on display. It’s made by Ohio Ordnance Works and REAPR stands for Recoil Enhanced Automatic Precision Rifle. They call it a revolution for modern military general purpose machine guns (GPMG), designed to surpass SOCOM military specifications. The caliber is .338 Norma Magnum, but it can be swapped to 7.62 NATO if needed.

It reminds me of a modernized MG42. Am I wrong? Or is it a slick machine gun in one of those PRS chassis, with a stock and pistol grip added?

REAPR Features: Lightweight, highly portable battlefield suppression system chambered in .338 Norma Magnum with a 7.62 NATO conversion kit, simple and robust receiver, toolless field stripping, and one-handed barrel changes. A system that breakdowns into three major components in under ten seconds, small enough to fit into an operator’s backpack!

Designed from the ground up by the advanced engineering team at Ohio Ordnance Works. With over 40 years designing, manufacturing, and supplying US and allied military divisions with industry-leading, battle-ready, belt-fed weapon systems.

The REAPR fits a backpack. I think you need a few more backpacks for the ammo.

Full-volume production begins in April 2024, with test quantities available now. I highly doubt we will see a semi-auto version of it.
